Claims
- 1. A method for producing an air filter, comprising the steps of:providing a polyurethane foam sheet having a three-dimensional porous network skeletal structure of micro cells; heating said polyurethane foam sheet; compressing said polyurethane foam sheet to form a pleated structure; cooling said pleated structure while maintaining said step of compressing of said polyurethane foam sheet.
- 2. The method according to claim 1, wherein:said step of heating is effected at a temperature ranging from about 60 to about 200° C. and maintained for a time period of about 0.5 to about 2 minutes.
- 3. The method according to claim 1, wherein:step of compressing is effected with a force of compression in a range of about 10 to about 60 kg/m over a pleat length.
- 4. The method according to claim 1, wherein:said step of cooling is carried out at a temperature of 20° C. or less for a time of about 3 minutes.
- 5. The method according to claim 1, wherein at least portions of said step of heating and compressing are carried out simultaneously.
- 6. The method according to claim 1, wherein said step of heating is carried out prior to said step of compressing.
- 7. An air filter, comprising:a polyurethane foam sheet having a three-dimensional porous network skeletal structure of micro cells; a dust filter layer in laminated engagement with at least one side of said polyurethane foam sheet, said dust filter layer comprising a non-woven, porous material made of an electrified fabric of polypropylene; and a combination of said polyurethane foam sheet and said dust filter layer comprising a filter matrix, said filter matrix having a pleated configuration.
- 8. The air filter according to claim 7, further comprising an adhesive layer disposed between said dust filter layer and said matrix for at least partially achieving said laminated engagement.
- 9. The air filter according to claim 8, wherein said adhesive layer includes an adhesive selected from the group consisting of a polyamide, ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, acrylic and urethane adhesives.
- 10. The air filter according to claim 7, further comprising a reinforcing material having air permeability disposed between said polyurethane foam sheet and said dust filter layer to enhance the rigidity of said pleated configuration.
- 11. The air filter according to claim 10, wherein said reinforcing material includes a polypropylene net.
- 12. The method according to claim 1, wherein said polyurethane foam sheet is made of a thermosetting resin.
- 13. The method according to claim 1, wherein said air filter is adapted for use in car air-conditioners.
- 14. The method according to claim 7, wherein said air filter is adapted for use in car air-conditioners.
