Claims
- 1. Pneumatic control ring (1) including a hollow, cylindrical-shaped ring (1) made of sintered material of iron, aluminium or plastic origin, which on its outer surface includes a slot that is the entrance into an inner chamber (4) and that is sealed and insulated by a gasket (2) situated over said slot, this chamber (4) being connected to the exterior only by way of a cylindrical conduct (5) to which a connector (3) is attached, said pneumatic control ring (1) being characterised in that
(a) the ring (1) has a layer of sealing varnish (6) on the outer surface of the ring (1) where no contact is made between the ring (1) and the thread, the purpose of which is to prevent leakage of the air-lubricant mixture from said part of the outer surface; (b) the ring (1) of sintered material is porous; (c) a mixture of air-lubricant is pressure injected into said inner chamber (4) through the connector (3) and the cylindrical hole (5); and (d) the porosity of the material that makes up the ring (1) and the pressure the air-lubricant mixture is injected at facilitate the creation of an air cushion between said ring (1) and the thread, reducing rubbing between them, and permitting high working speeds, and the spreading of said mixture through the pores formed by the sintered material of the ring (1) so that a homogeneous and constant lubrication of the contact area between the ring (1) and the thread is carried out.
- 2. Pneumatic control ring (1) according to the first claim, characterised in that the degree of porosity of the material that makes up the ring (1) is in the range of 0.1% and 50% of the volume of the ring (1).
- 3. Pneumatic control ring (1) according to the first claim, characterised in that the pressure the air-lubricant mixture is injected at is within a range of values between 0.2 bar and 80 bar.
- 4. Pneumatic control ring (1) according to the first claim, characterised in that it can work with an air-lubricant mixture, in which the proportion of the components of the air-lubricant mixture is in the range of between 100% air and 0% lubricant and a mixture of 0% air and 100% lubricant.
- 5. Pneumatic control ring (1) according to the first claim, characterised in that it operates with an air-lubricant mixture in which the viscosity of the lubricant varies between 0.1 and 250 centistockes measured at 400 according to ISO regulations.
