Claims
- 1. A paper sizing chemical and foam stabilizer which is a perfluoroalkyl-allyloxy- and perfluoroalkyl-iodopropyloxy-substituted polyaminoacid or a poly-R.sub.F -fluoroallyl-substituted polyaminoacid, which contains, in random distribution, q units of A-1, r units of A-2, s units of A-3 and t units of A-4 in which
- A-1 and A-2 are perfluoroalkyl-substituted amino groups of the formulae ##STR7## A-3 is a hydrophilically substituted amino or amido group of the formula ##STR8## and A-4 is a substituted amino or amido group of the formula ##STR9## wherein T is --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 --O--CH.sub.2 -- or a direct bond, with the proviso that when T is --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 --O--CH.sub.2 --, Q.sub.F is of the formulae
- --CHI--CH.sub.2 --R.sub.F (Q.sub.F1) and --CH.dbd.CH--R.sub.F (Q.sub.F2)
- and consists of 5-50 mole % Q.sub.F1 and 50-95 mole % Q.sub.F2, and, when T is a direct bond, Q.sub.F, is
- --CH.sub.2 CH.dbd.CF--R.sub.F ' (Q.sub.F3),
- q, r, s, and t are integers from zero to 100, the sum of q+r+s+t is 5 to 200, the sum of q+r is equal or greater than 2, and the ratio of q+r/s is 0.05 to 0.5,
- R is hydrogen or methyl,
- R.sub.F is independently a monovalent perfluorinated alkyl or alkenyl, straight or branched organic radical having four to twenty fully fluorinated carbon atoms,
- R.sub.F ' is independently a monovalent perfluorinated alkyl or alkenyl, straight or branched organic radical having three to nineteen fully fluorinated carbon atoms, with each R.sub.F and R.sub.F ', radical being identical or different from the other R.sub.F and R.sub.F ' radicals,
- X is hydrogen, --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 --O--CH.sub.2 CH.dbd.CH.sub.2 or --G--Y,
- G is a direct bond or a linking group of the formula --CH.sub.2 --, --CH.sub.2 CHR--, --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 C.sub.6 H.sub.4 --, --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 --, --C.sub.6 H.sub.4 --, --CH(--COOH)CH.sub.2 --, --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CONHCH(OH)--, --COR.sub.1 --, --CH.sub.2 CHRCONHC(CH.sub.3).sub.2 (CH.sub.2)--, or a mixture thereof,
- wherein R is as defined above,
- R.sub.1 is --CH.dbd.CH--, --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 --, or --C.sub.6 H.sub.4 -- and
- Y is an acid group of the formula --COOH, --SO.sub.3 H, --PO.sub.3 H.sub.2, or --(PO.sub.3 H).sub.3 H, or a salt thereof, or is --CONH.sub.2 or --CH(OH)CH.sub.2 OH, or a mixture of these groups,
- R.sub.2 is an alkyl radical with 1 to 20 carbon atoms, or is --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CON(CH.sub.3).sub.2, --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CONHCH.sub.2 OH, --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CON(CH.sub.2 OH).sub.2, --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 N(R.sub.4).sub.2, --CH.sub.2 CR.sub.1 --COOR.sub.4 or --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 --O--CH.sub.2 CH.dbd.CH.sub.2, wherein
- R.sub.4 is an alkyl radical with 1 to 18 carbon atoms or --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 --OH,
- R.sub.3 is the same as R.sub.2 or is hydrogen, and R.sub.1 is defined as above.
- 2. A perfluoroalkyl-allyloxy- and perfluoroalkyl-iodopropyloxy-substituted polyaminoacid or a poly-R.sub.F -fluoroallyl-substituted polyaminoacid according to claim 1, wherein Q.sub.F consists of 10-40 % Q.sub.F1 and 60-90% Q.sub.F2, or is Q.sub.F3,
- R.sub.F is saturated and contains 6-12 carbon atoms, is fully fluorinated and contains at least one terminal perfluoromethyl group,
- R.sub.F ' is saturated and contains 5-11 carbon atoms, is fully fluorinated and contains at least one terminal perfluoromethyl group
- q+r is 2 to 20,
- s is 5 to 80 and the ratio of q+r/s is 0.05 to 0.5,
- t is 0 to 5,
- R is hydrogen,
- R.sub.2 is --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 --O--CH.sub.2 CH.dbd.CH.sub.2,
- R.sub.3 is hydrogen or --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 --O--CH.sub.2 CH.dbd.CH.sub.2,
- Y is as defined in claim 1 and
- G is a direct bond or is of the formula --CH.sub.2 --, --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 --, --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CONHCH(OH)--, --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 C.sub.6 H.sub.4 --, --CH(--COOH)CH-- or --COR.sub.1 --, where R.sub.1 is --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 --.
- 3. A perfluoroalkyl-allyloxy- and perfluoroalkyl-iodopropyloxy-substituted polyaminoacid or a poly-R.sub.F -fluoroallyl-substituted polyaminoacid according to claim 2, wherein Q.sub.F, T, R.sub.F, R.sub.F ', q, r, s, t, R, R.sub.1, R.sub.2, and G are as defined in claim 2 and Y is --COOH or --CONH.sub.2.
- 4. A poly-R.sub.F -fluoroallyl-substituted polyaminoacid according to claim 2, wherein Q.sub.F is Q.sub.F3, T is a direct bond, G is --CH.sub.2 -- and Y is --COOH.
- 5. A perfluoroalkyl-allyloxy- and perfluoroalkyl-iodopropyloxy-substituted polyaminoacid or a poly-R.sub.F -fluoroallyl-substituted polyaminoacid according to claim 2, wherein Q.sub.F, T, R.sub.F, R.sub.F ', q, r, s, t, R, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, are as defined in claim 2, G is --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 -- or --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 C.sub.6 H.sub.4 -- and Y is --SO.sub.3 H.
- 6. A perfluoroalkyl-allyloxy- and perfluoroalkyl-iodopropyloxy-substituted polyaminoacid or a poly-R.sub.F -fluoroallyl-substituted polyaminoacid according to claim 2, wherein Q.sub.F, T, R.sub.F, R.sub.F ', q, r, s, t, R, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are as defined above, G is --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 -- and Y is --PO.sub.3 H.
- 7. A perfluoroalkyl-allyloxy- and perfluoroalkyl-iodopropyloxy-substituted polyaminoacid or a poly-R.sub.F -fluoroallyl-substituted polyaminoacid according to claim 2, wherein Q.sub.F, T, R.sub.F, R.sub.F ', q, r, s, t, R, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are as defined in claim 2, G is a direct bond and Y is --(PO.sub.3 H).sub.3 H, --COOH or --CH(OH)CH.sub.2 OH.
- 8. A process for the preparation of a perfluoroalkyl-allyloxy- and perfluoroalkyl-iodopropyloxy-substituted polyaminoacid according to claim 1, which comprises reacting allyl glycidyl ether with primary or secondary amino groups of a polyamine having a number average molecular weight ranging from about 200 to 10,000; then reacting the resulting polyallyloxy-substituted polyamine with an amino-reactive organic or inorganic acidic compound or other hydrophilic compound, and then reacting the product of this reaction with a perfluoroalkyl iodide in the presence of a free radical initiator.
- 9. A process according to claim 8, wherein the polyamine is a polyalkyleneimine containing 4 to 300 primary, secondary and tertiary amino groups in ratios ranging from 1:1:0 to 1:2:1.
- 10. A perfluoroalkyl-allyloxy- and perfluoroalkyl-iodopropyloxy-substituted polyaminoacid according to claim 2 wherein Q.sub.F is Q.sub.F1 and Q.sub.F2 and consists of 10-40% Q.sub.F1 and 60-90% Q.sub.F2, T is --CH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 --O--CH.sub.2 --, G is --CH.sub.2 -- and Y is --COOH.
- 11. A method of improving the foam stability and alcohol resistance of an aqueous fire-fighting foam agent, which comprises adding to said agent an effective amount of a compound according to claim 10.
- 12. A method of improving the foam stability and alcohol resistance of an aqueous fire-fighting foam agent, which comprises adding to said agent an effective amount of a compound according to claim 1.
- 13. A method of improving the foam stability and alcohol resistance of an aqueous fire-fighting foam agent, which comprises adding to said agent an effective amount of a compound according to claim 2.
