Claims
- 1. A composition comprising from about 10 to about 90 wt % of (i) a polyphthalamide comprising terephthalamide units, said polyphthalamide when filled with 33 weight percent glass fibers and molded having a heat deflection temperature at 264 psi according to ASTM D-648 of at least about 240.degree. C.; and from about 90 to about 10 wt % of (ii) a polyphenylene sulfide based on the total weight of said components (i) and (ii).
- 2. The composition of claim 1 further comprising a filler.
- 3. A composition comprising from about 10 to about 90 wt % of a polyphthalamide having a heat deflection temperature at 264 psi according to ASTM D-648 of at least about 240.degree. C. when filled with 33 weight percent glass fibers and molded, said polyphthalamide comprising the following recurring units: ##STR2## wherein the mole ratio of units A, B and C is about 40-100:0-35:0-60 and wherein R, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are independently divalent hydrocarbyl radicals; and
- from about 90 to about 10 wt % of a polyphenylene sulfide, the proportion of each said component being based on combined weight of said polyphthalamide and said polyphenylene sulfide.
- 4. The composition of claim 3 wherein R, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 comprise hexamethylene.
- 5. The composition of claim 3 wherein the polyphthalamide consists of units A and C.
- 6. The composition of claim 3 wherein the mole ratio of dicarboxylic acid moieties in the units A, B and C is about 65-90:25-0:35-5.
- 7. The composition of claim 3 further comprising from about 10 to about 60 weight percent glass fiber, based on total weight of the composition.
- 8. A composition comprising from about 10 to about 90 wt % of a polyphthalamide having a heat deflection temperature at 264 psi according to ASTM D-648 of at least about 240.degree. C. when filled with 33 weight percent glass fibers and molded, said polyphthalamide comprising at least two different recurring units selected from the group consisting of the following recurring units: ##STR3## wherein R, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are independently divalent hydrocarbyl radicals; and
- from about 90 to about 10 wt % of a polyphenylene sulfide, the proportion of each said component being based on combined weight of said polyphthalamide and said polyphenylene sulfide.
- 9. The composition of claim 8 wherein the mole ratio of units A, B and C is about 40-99:0-35:0-60.
- 10. The composition of claim 8 wherein the mole ratio of dicarboxylic acid moieties in the units A, B and C is about 50-95:25-0:35-5.
- 11. The composition of claim 8 wherein the mole ratio of dicarboxylic acid moieties in the units A, B and C is about 65-90:25-0:35-5.
- 12. The composition of claim 8 wherein the polyphthalamide consists of units A and C.
- 13. The composition of claim 8 wherein the mole ratio of dicarboxylic acid moieties in the units A, B and C is about 50-90:0:50-10.
