Claims
- 1. Linear polychlorophosphazenes resulting from heating P-trichloro-N-dichlorophosphoryl-monophosphazene of formula II ##STR6## with release of a controlled amount of POCl.sup.3 to recover a practically pure linear polychlorophosphazene of the general formula: ##STR7## wherein n is equal to or greater than 4.
- 2. Process for the preparation of the novel linear polychlorophosphazenes of formula I
- Cl.sub.2 (O)P [NPCl.sub.2 ].sub.n Cl I
- said process comprising the polycondensation by heating of P-trichloro-N-dichlorophosphoryl-monophosphazene of the following formula II: ##STR8## in accordance with the following equation III: ##STR9## with a controlled release of POCl.sub.3, to obtain quantitatively a practically pure polychlorophosphazene of formula I, of controlled degree of condensation, wherein n.gtoreq.4, said polycondensation by heating being carried out at a temperature equal to or higher than 180.degree. C.
- 3. A process according to claim 2, wherein the controlled polycondensation is carried out at least in part in an inert gas atmosphere.
- 4. Process for the preparation of the novel linear polychlorophosphazenes of formula I:
- Cl.sub.2 (O)P [NPCl.sub.2 ].sub.n Cl I
- said process comprising the polycondensation by heating of P trichloro-N-dichlorophosphoryl-monophosphazene of the following formula II: ##STR10## in accordance with the following equation III: ##STR11## with controlled release of POCl.sub.3, to obtain quantitatively a practically pure polychlorophosphazene of formula I, of controlled degree of condensation, wherein n.gtoreq.4, said polycondensation by heating being carried out at temperatures of at least 150.degree. C. under reduced pressure in the range of from about 0.1 to 250 mmHg throughout the entire process.
- 5. A process according to claim 4, wherein said polycondensation is performed under reduced pressure in the range of from about 0.5 mmHg to about 150 mmHg.
- 6. Process for the preparation of the novel linear polychlorophosphazenes of formula I:
- Cl.sub.2 (O)P [NPCl.sub.2 ].sub.n Cl I
- said process comprising the polycondensation by heating of P trichloro-N-dichlorophosphoryl-monophosphazene of the following formula II: ##STR12## in accordance with the following equation III: ##STR13## with controlled release of POCl.sub.3, to obtain quantitatively a practically pure polychlorophosphazene of formula I, of controlled degree of condensation, wherein n.gtoreq.4, said polycondensation by heating being carried out at temperatures ranging from 170.degree. C. to 350.degree. C. under reduced pressure in the range of from about 0.1 to 250 mmHg throughout the entire process.
- 7. A process according to claim 6, wherein said polycondensation is performed under reduced pressure in the range of from about 0.5 mmHg to about 150 mmHg.
- 8. Process for the preparation of the novel linear polychlorophosphazenes of formula I:
- Cl.sub.2 (O)P [NPCl.sub.2 ].sub.n Cl I
- said process comprising the polycondensation by heating of P trichloro-N-dichlorophosphoryl-monophosphazene of the following formula II: ##STR14## in accordance with the following equation III: ##STR15## with controlled release of POCl.sub.3, to obtain quantitatively a practically pure polychlorophosphazene of formula I, of controlled degree of condensation, wherein n.gtoreq.4, said polycondensation by heating being carried out at temperatures of at least 100.degree. C. under reduced pressure throughout the entire process.
- 9. Process for the preparation of linear polychlorophosphazenes of the formula Cl.sub.2 (O)P(NPCl.sub.2).sub.n Cl, said process comprising polycondensation by heating of P trichloro-N-dichlorophosphorymonophosphazene of the formula II: ##STR16## in accordance with the following equation III: ##STR17## with controlled release of POCl.sub.3, to obtain quantitatively a practically pure polychlorophosphazene, of controlled degree of condensation, wherein n is greater than or equal to 4, said polycondensation by heating being carried out at temperatures ranging from about 180.degree. C. to about 210.degree. C. in the pressure range of from about 100 mmHg to about atmospheric pressure.
