Claims
- 1. A polycondensate or heteropolycondensate, based on hydrolytically condensable monomer compounds of silicon, comprising from 5 to 100 mole percent, based on monomer content, of at least one hydrolytically condensable monomer compound selected from the group consisting of silanes of the formula I,
- B{A-(Z).sub.d -R.sup.1 (R.sup.2)--R'--SiX.sub.a R.sub.b }.sub.c(I),
- wherein a=1, 2 or 3 and b=0, 1 or 2;
- with the proviso that a+b=3;
- and c=1, 2, 3 or4;
- wherein B=a straight chain or branched chain organic residue having at least one C.dbd.C double bond and having 4 to 50 carbon atoms;
- X represents a member selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, hydroxy groups, alkoxy groups, acyloxy groups, alkylcarbonyl groups, alkoxycarbonyl groups and --NR".sub.2 ;
- R" represents a member selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl groups and aryl groups;
- R represents a member selected from the group consisting of alkyl groups, alkenyl groups, aryl groups, alkylaryl groups and arylalkyl groups;
- R' represents a member selected from the group consisting of substituted and unsubstituted alkylene groups, arylene groups, arylenealkylene groups and alkylenearylene groups each having zero to ten carbon atoms, wherein said substituted alkylene groups, said substituted arylene groups, said substituted arylenealkylene groups and said substituted alkylenearylene groups each have at least one substituent selected from the group consisting of oxygen atoms, sulfur atoms and amine groups;
- R.sup.1 is a member of the group consisting of nitrogen, substituted and unsubstituted alkylene, arylene and alkylenearylene groups each having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, wherein said substituted alkylene groups, said substituted arylene groups and said substituted alkylenearylene groups each having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms each have at least one substituent selected from the group consisting of oxygen atoms, sulfur atoms and amine groups;
- R.sup.2 is a member selected from the group consisting of H, OH and COOH; and
- wherein, when said d=1, Z=CO, said R.sup.1 is one of said substituted and unsubstituted alkylene groups, said arylene groups and said alkylenearylene groups each having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms and said R.sup.2 is one of said H and said COOH, then A represents a member selected from the group consisting of an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom and an NH group;
- wherein, when said d=1, Z=CHW and W represents a member selected from the group consisting of H, alkyl groups, aryl groups and alkyaryl groups, said R.sup.1 is one of said substituted and unsubstituted alkylene groups, said arylene groups and said alkylenearylene groups each having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms and said R.sup.2 is said OH, then A represents a member selected from the group consisting of an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom, an NH group and a COO group;
- wherein, when said d=0 and said R.sup.1 is one of said substituted and unsubstituted alkylene groups, arylene groups and alkylenearylene groups having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms and said R.sup.2 is said OH, then A represents a member selected from the group consisting of an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom, an NH group and a COO group; and
- wherein, when said d=1, Z=CO, said R.sup.1 is said nitrogen and said R.sup.2 =said H, then A is S.
- 2. The polycondensate or heteropolycondensate as defined in claim 1, wherein said at least one hydrolytically condensable monomer compound includes an element selected from the group consisting of Al, P, Sn, Pb, transition metals, lanthanide metals and actinide metals.
- 3. The polycondensate or heteropolycondensate as defined in claim 1, made by a method comprising precondensing said at least one hydrolytically condensable monomer compound to form a precondensate and forming said polycondensate or heteropolycondensate from said precondensate, and wherein said hydrolytically condensing occurs in the presence of a catalyst and solvent.
- 4. The polycondensate or heteropolycondensate as defined in claim 1, wherein said at least one hydrolytically condensable monomer compound includes at least one radically or ionically polymerizable compound.
- 5. The polycondensate or heteropolycondensate as defined in claim 4, wherein said at least one radically or ionically polymerizable compound is in precondensed form.
- 6. The polycondensate or heteropolycondensate as defined in claim 1, wherein said at least one hydrolytically condensable monomer compound includes a silicon compound of the formula VI
- R.sub.a' (R"Z').sub.b' SiX.sub.4-(a'+b') (VI)
- in an uncondensed or precondensed form,
- wherein said R" is selected from the group consisting of substituted and unsubstituted alkylene and alkenylene groups, and said substituted and unsubstituted alkylene and alkenylene groups each have at least one substituent selected from the group consisting of oxygen atoms, sulfur atoms and --NH groups;
- Z' is selected from the group consisting of halogen and substituted and unsubstituted amine, amide, aldehyde, alkylcarbonyl, carboxy, mercapto, cyano, alkoxy, alkoxycarbonyl, sulfonic acid, phosphoric acid, acryloxy, methacryloxy, epoxy and vinyl groups; and
- a'=0, 1, 2 or 3 and b'=0, 1, 2 or 3, provided that a'+b'=1, 2 or 3.
- 7. The polycondensate or heteropolycondensate as defined in claim 1, wherein said at least one hydrolytically condensable monomer compound includes a silicon compound of the formula VII
- {X.sub.n R.sub.k Si[(R.sup.3 A').sub.l ].sub.4-(n+k) }.sub.x B(VII)
- in an uncondensed or precondensed form,
- wherein A' is selected from the group consisting of O, S, PR"', POR"', NHC(O)O and NHC(O)NR"' groups, and said R"' is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl and aryl groups,
- said B is one of said straight or branched chain organic residues and is derived from a starting compound B' having said at least one of said C.dbd.C double bonds if l=1 and said A'=NHC(O)O and NHC(O)NR"' and otherwise having at least two of said at least one C.dbd.C double bond, and from 5 to 50 carbon atoms,
- R.sup.3 is selected from the group consisting of alkylene, arylene and alkylenearylene,
- n=1, 2 or 3,
- k=0, 1 or2,
- l=0 or 1, and
- x=a whole number having a maximum value corresponding to the number of double bonds in said starting compound B' minus 1, but if l=1 and said A' is NHC(O)O or NHC(O)NR"', x=the number of said double bonds in said starting compound B'.
- 8. The polycondensate or heteropolycondensate as defined in claim 7, wherein said starting compound B' includes at least two members of the group consisting of acrylate groups and methacrylate groups.
- 9. The polycondensate or heteropolycondensate as defined in claim 1, wherein said at least one hydrolytically condensable monomer compound includes a silane compound of the formula VIII
- Y.sub.n SiX.sub.m R.sub.4-(n+m) (VIII)
- in an uncondensed or precondensed form,
- wherein Y is a substituted or unsubstituted
- 1,4,6-trioxaspiro-[4,4]-nonyl group; and
- n=1, 2 or 3, and
- m=1, 2 or 3, provided that n+m.ltoreq.4.
- 10. The polycondensate or heteropolycondensate as defined in claim 1, made by a method comprising hydrolytically condensing at least one additional aluminum-containing hydrolytically condensable compound of the formula AIR.sup.o.sub.3 in an uncondensed or precondensed form with said at least one hydrolytically condensable monomer compound, wherein R.sup.o is a member of the group consisting of halogen, hydroxy, alkoxy and acryloxy groups and said at least one additional aluminum-containing hydrolytically condensable compound is soluble in a reaction medium in which said hydrolytically condensing occurs.
- 11. The polycondensate or heteropolycondensate as defined in claim 1, made by a method comprising hydrolytically condensing at least one additional titanium or zirconium-containing hydrolytically condensable compound of the formula MX.sub.y R.sub.z in an uncondensed or precondensed form with said at least one hydrolytically condensable monomer compound, wherein y=1, 2, 3 or 4 and z=0, 1, 2 or 3 and M is titanium or zirconium.
- 12. The polycondensate or heteropolycondensate as defined in claim 1, where said y=2,3or4and said z=0, 1 or2.
- 13. The polycondensate or heteropolycondensate as defined in claim 1, made by a method comprising adding at least one initiator and hardening to form the polycondensate or heteropolycondensate.
- 14. The polycondensate or heteropolycondensate as defined in claim 13, wherein said hardening comprises one of thermally hardening, photochemically hardening, covalently nucleophilically hardening and redox-induced hardening.
- 15. The polycondensate or heteropolycondensate as defined in claim 1, made by a method comprising adding at least one of a radically polymerizable component and an ionically polymerizable component prior to forming said polycondensate or said heteropolycondensate.
- 16. A polymerizate made by radical polymerization by action of at least one of heat, electromagnetic radiation, redox-induced polymerizing and covalent-nucleophilic polymerizing, said polymerizate comprising from 5 to 100 mole percent, based on monomer content, of at least one C.dbd.C-double-containing-compound selected from the group consisting of silanes of the formula I,
- B{A-(Z).sub.d -R.sup.1 (R.sup.2)--R'--SiX.sub.a R.sub.b }.sub.c(I),
- wherein a=1, 2 or 3 and b=0, 1 or 2;
- with the proviso that a+b=3;
- and c=1, 2, 3 or 4;
- wherein B=a straight chain or branched chain organic residue having at least one C.dbd.C double bond and having 4 to 50 carbon atoms;
- X represents a member selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, hydroxy groups, alkoxy groups, acyloxy groups, alkylcarbonyl groups, alkoxycarbonyl groups and --NR".sub.2 ;
- R" represents a member selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl groups and aryl groups;
- R represents a member selected from the group consisting of alkyl groups, alkenyl groups, aryl groups, alkylaryl groups and arylalkyl groups;
- R' represents a member selected from the group consisting of substituted and unsubstituted alkylene groups, arylene groups, arylenealkylene groups and alkylenearylene groups having zero to ten carbon atoms, wherein said substituted alkylene groups, said substituted arylene groups, said substituted arylenealkylene groups and said substituted alkylenearylene groups each have at least one substituent selected from the group consisting of oxygen atoms, sulfur atoms and amine groups;
- R.sup.1 is a member of the group consisting of nitrogen, substituted and unsubstituted alkylene, arylene and alkylenearylene groups each having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, wherein said substituted alkylene groups, said substituted arylene groups and said substituted alkylenearylene groups each having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms each have at least one substituent selected from the group consisting of oxygen atoms, sulfur atoms and amine groups;
- R.sup.2 is a member selected from the group consisting of H, OH and COOH; and
- wherein, when said d=1, Z=CO, said R.sup.1 is one of said substituted and unsubstituted alkylene groups, said arylene groups and said alkylenearylene groups each having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms and said R.sup.2 is one of said H and said COOH, then A represents a member selected from the group consisting of an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom and an NH group;
- wherein, when said d=1, Z=CHW and W represents a member selected from the group consisting of H, alkyl groups, aryl groups and alkyaryl groups, said R.sup.1 is one of said substituted and unsubstituted alkylene groups, said arylene groups and said alkylenearylene groups each having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms and said R.sup.2 is said OH, then A represents a member selected from the group consisting of an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom an NH group and a COO group;
- wherein, when said d=0 and said R.sup.1 is one of said substituted and unsubstituted alkylene groups, arylene groups and alkylenearylene groups having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms and said R.sup.2 is said OH, then A represents a member selected from the group consisting of an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom, an NH group and a COO group; and
- wherein, when said d=1, Z=CO, said R.sup.1 is said nitrogen and said R.sup.2 =said H, then A is S.
- 17. The polymerizate as defined in claim 16, wherein said radical polymerization occurs in the presence of at least one initiator and at least one solvent.
- 18. The polymerizate as defined in claim 16, wherein said at least one other radically polymerizable monomer compound is selected from the group consisting of silicon compounds of said formula VII
- {X.sub.n R.sub.k Si[(R.sup.3 A').sub.l ].sub.4-(n+k) }.sub.x B(VII)
- wherein A' is selected from the group consisting of O, S, PR"', POR"', NHC(O)O and NHC(O)NR"' groups, and said R"' is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl and aryl groups,
- said B is one of said straight or branched chain organic residues and is derived from a starting compound B' having said at least one of said C.dbd.C double bonds if l=1 and said A'=NHC(O)O and NHC(O)NR"' and otherwise having at least two of said at least one C.dbd.C double bond, and from 5 to 50 carbon atoms
- R.sup.3 is selected from the group consisting of alkylene, arylene and alkylenearylene,
- n=1, 2 or 3,
- k=0, 1 or2,
- l=0 or 1, and
- x=a whole number having a maximum value corresponding to the number of double bonds in said starting compound B' minus 1, but if l=1 and said A' is NHC(O)O or NHC(O)NR"', x=the number of said double bonds in said starting compound B'.
- 19. The polymerizate as defined in claim 16, further comprising at least one additional hydrolytically condensable compound of silicon in uncondensed or precondensed form by action of water and hydrolytically condensed in said polymerizate.
- 20. The polymerizate as defined in claim 19, wherein said at least one additional hydrolytically condensable compound includes at least one other element selected from the group consisting of B, Al, P, Sn, Pb, transition metals, lanthanide metals and actinide metals, and wherein said hydrolytically condensing takes place in the presence of at least one of a catalyst and a solvent.
- 21. The polymerizate as defined in claim 19, wherein said at least one additional hydrolytically condensable compound includes said silicon compound of the formula VI
- R.sub.a' (R"Z').sub.b' SiX.sub.4-(a'+b') (VI)
- in an uncondensed or precondensed form,
- wherein said R" is selected from the group consisting of substituted alkylene groups, unsubstituted alkylene groups, substituted alkenylene groups and unsubstituted alkenylene, and said R" has at least one substituent selected from the group consisting of oxygen atoms, sulfur atoms and --NH groups;
- Z' is selected from the group consisting of halogen and substituted and unsubstituted amine, amide, aldehyde, alkylcarbonyl, carboxy, mercapto, cyano, alkoxy, alkoxycarbonyl, sulfonic acid, phosphoric acid, acryloxy, methacryloxy, epoxy and vinyl groups; and
- a'=0, 1, 2or3and b'=0, 1,2or3, provided that a'+b'=1, 2or3.
- 22. A polymerizate made by ionic polymerization by action of at least one of heat, electromagnetic radiation, redox-induced polymerizing and covalent-nucleophilic polymerizing, said polymerizate comprising from 5 to 100 mole percent, based on monomer content, of at least one ionically polymerizable compound selected from the group consisting of silanes of the formula I,
- B{A-(Z).sub.d -R.sup.1 (R.sup.2)--R'--SiX.sub.a R.sub.b }.sub.c(I),
- wherein a=1, 2 or 3 and b=0,1 or 2;
- with the proviso that a+b=3,
- and c=1, 2, 3 or 4;
- wherein B=a straight chain or branched chain organic residue having at least one C.dbd.C double bond and having 4 to 50 carbon atoms;
- X represents a member selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, hydroxy groups, alkoxy groups, acyloxy groups, alkylcarbonyl groups, alkoxycarbonyl groups and --NR".sub.2 ;
- R" represents a member selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl groups and aryl groups;
- R represents a member selected from the group consisting of alkyl groups, alkenyl groups, aryl groups, alkylaryl groups and arylalkyl groups;
- R' represents a member selected from the group consisting of substituted and unsubstituted alkylene groups, arylene groups, arylenealkylene groups and alkylenearylene groups having zero to ten carbon atoms, wherein said substituted alkylene groups, said substituted arylene groups, said substituted arylenealkylene groups and said substituted alkylenearylene groups each having at least one substituent selected from the group consisting of oxygen atoms, sulfur atoms and amine groups;
- R.sup.1 is a member of the group consisting of nitrogen, substituted and unsubstituted alkylene, arylene and alkylenearylene groups each having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms, wherein said substituted alkylene groups, said substituted arylene groups and said substituted alkylenearylene groups each have from 1 to 10 carbon atoms each have at least one substituent selected from the group consisting of oxygen atoms, sulfur atoms and amine groups;
- R.sup.2 is a member selected from the group consisting of H, OH and COOH; and
- wherein, when said d=1, Z=CO, said R.sup.1 is one of said substituted and unsubstituted alkylene groups, said arylene groups and said alkylenearylene groups each having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms and said R.sup.2 is one of said H and said COOH, then A represents a member selected from the group consisting of an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom and an NH group;
- wherein, when said d=1, Z=CHW and W represents a member selected from the group consisting of H, alkyl groups, aryl groups and alkyaryl groups, said R.sup.1 is one of said substituted and unsubstituted alkylene groups, said arylene groups and said alkylenearylene groups each having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms and said R.sup.2 is said OH, then A represents a member selected from the group consisting of an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom, an NH group and a COO group;
- wherein, when said d=0 and said R.sup.1 is one of said substituted and unsubstituted alkylene groups, arylene groups and alkylenearylene groups having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms and said R.sup.2 is said OH, then A represents a member selected from the group consisting of an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom, an NH group and a COO group; and
- wherein, when said d=1, Z=CO, said R.sup.1 is said nitrogen and said R.sup.2 =said H, then A is S.
- 23. The polymerizate as defined in claim 22, wherein said ionic polymerization occurs in the presence of at least one initiator and at least one solvent.
- 24. The polymerizate as defined in claim 22, wherein said at least one ionically polymerizable compound includes at least one cationically polymerizable compound comprising at least one silane compound of the formula VIII
- Y.sub.n SiX.sub.m R.sub.4-(n+m) (VIII)
- in an uncondensed or precondensed form,
- wherein Y is a substituted or unsubstituted
- 1,4,6-trioxaspiro-[4,4]-nonyl group; and
- n=1, 2 or 3, and
- m 1, 2 or 3, provided that n+m.ltoreq.4.
- 25. The polymerizate as defined in claim 24, wherein said at least one cationically polymerizable compound is selected from the group consisting of spiroorthoester, spiroorthocarbonate, bicyclic spiroorthoester, methylacryloylspiroorthoester, monoepoxides and oligoepoxides.
- 26. The polymerizate as defined in claim 24, further comprising at least one additional hydrolytically condensable compound of silicon in uncondensed or precondensed form by action of water and hydrolytically condensed with said polymerizate.
- 27. The polymerizate as defined in claim 26, wherein said at least one additional hydrolytically condensable compound includes at least one other element selected from the group consisting of B, Al, P, Sn, Pb, transition metals, lanthanide metals and actinide metals, and wherein said hydrolytically condensing takes place in the presence of at least one of a catalyst and a solvent.
- 28. The polymerizate as defined in claim 26, wherein said at least one additional hydrolytically condensable compound includes said silicon compound of the formula VI
- R.sub.a' (R"Z').sub.b' SiX.sub.4-(a'+b') (VI)
- in an uncondensed or precondensed form,
- wherein said R" is selected from the group consisting of substituted and unsubstituted alkylene groups and substituted and unsubstituted alkenylene groups and said R" has at least one substituent selected from the group consisting of oxygen atoms, sulfur atoms and --NH groups;
- Z'is selected from the group consisting of halogen and substituted and unsubstituted amine, amide, aldehyde, alkylcarbonyl, carboxy, mercapto, cyano, alkoxy, alkoxycarbonyl, sulfonic acid, phosphoric acid, acryloxy, methacryloxy, epoxy and vinyl groups; and
- a'=0, 1, 2 or 3 and b'=0, 1, 2 or 3, provided that a'+b'=1, 2 or 3.
