Claims
- 1. An article for use in an electrical device comprising a colorless polyimide layer having a light transmission in excess of 90% in the wavelength range from 400 to 700 nm.
- 2. The article of claim 1, wherein the polyimide comprises the reaction product of a 9,9-bis(aminoaryl)fluorene and at least one aromatic tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride, and optionally one or more aromatic diamines.
- 3. The article of claim 1, further comprising an optical adhesive disposed on the polyimide layer.
- 4. The article of claim 1, wherein the optical adhesive comprises a colorless adhesive having a light transmission in excess of 90% in the wavelength range from 400 to 700 nm.
- 5. The article of claim 1, wherein the polyimide comprises a plurality of fluorene groups attached orthogonally to the backbone of the polyimide polymer.
- 6. The article of claim 1, wherein the polyimide comprises the chemical structure:
- 7. The article of claim 1, wherein the polyimide comprises the structure:
- 8. The article of claim 1, wherein the polyimide comprises the chemical structure:
- 9. The article of claim 1, wherein the polyimide comprises the chemical structure:
- 10. The article of claim 1, wherein the polyimide comprises the chemical structure:
- 11. The article of claim 1, wherein the polyimide comprises the chemical structure:
- 12. The article of claim 1, wherein the polyimide comprises the chemical structure:
- 13. A liquid crystal display comprising a dielectric layer comprising a colorless polyimide having a light transmission in excess of 90% in the wavelength range from 400 to 700 nm.
- 14. The liquid crystal display of claim 13, wherein the polyimide comprises the reaction product of a 9,9-bis(aminoaryl)fluorene and at least one aromatic tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride, and optionally one or more aromatic diamines.
- 15. The liquid crystal display of claim 13, further comprising an optical adhesive disposed on the polyimide layer.
- 16. The liquid crystal display of claim 15, wherein the optical adhesive comprises a colorless adhesive having a light transmission in excess of 90% in the wavelength range from 400 to 700 nm.
- 17. The liquid crystal display of claim 13, wherein the polyimide comprises a plurality of fluorene groups attached orthogonally to the backbone of the polyimide polymer.
