Claims
- 1. A composition of matter for waterproofing a surface of a wall comprising:
- a hydrocarbon resin;
- an elastomeric copolymer having units selected from the group including styrene, isoprene, butadiene ethylene butylene and mixtures thereof; and
- a solvent system including a blend of petroleum distillates and heptane, wherein said heptane comprises n-heptane.
- 2. A composition of matter, as in claim 1, wherein said copolymer is a block copolymer.
- 3. A composition of matter, as in claim 2, wherein said block copolymer includes units selected from the group consisting of styrene, butadiene, isoprene, and mixtures thereof.
- 4. A composition of matter, as in claim 3, wherein said block copolymer is selected from the group consisting of styrene-isoprene block copolymers, styrene-isoprene-styrene block copolymers, styrene-butadiene block copolymers, styrene-butadiene-styrene block copolymers, styrene-ethylene/butylene-styrene block copolymers, and mixtures thereof.
- 5. A composition of matter, as in claim 3, wherein said block copolymer is hydrogenated.
- 6. A composition of matter, as in claim 1, wherein the composition of matter remains stabilized for at least 30 days within a sealed can at 95.degree. F.
- 7. A composition of matter, as in claim 1, wherein the composition of matter has a viscosity at 70.degree. F. in the range from about 30,000 cps to about 80,000 cps.
- 8. A composition of matter, as in claim 1, wherein the composition of matter has a viscosity at 120.degree. F. in the range from about 500 cps to about 1,500 cps.
- 9. A composition of matter, as in claim 1, comprising about 40 to about 60 parts by weight of said solvent system.
- 10. A composition of matter, as in claim 9, wherein said solvent system comprises about 30 to about 55 percent by weight heptane about 45 to about 70 percent by weight petroleum distillates.
- 11. A composition of matter, as in claim 10, wherein said heptane comprises about 20 to about 30 percent by weight n-heptane.
- 12. A composition of matter, as in claim 1, wherein said petroleum distillates comprises naphthenic distillates.
- 13. A composition of matter, as in claim 1, further comprising a processing oil.
- 14. A composition of matter for waterproofing a surface of a wall comprising:
- a hydrocarbon resin;
- an elastomeric copolymer having units selected from the group consisting of styrene, isoprene, butadiene ethylene butylene and mixtures thereof; and
- a solvent system including heptane, wherein the viscosity of the composition at 70.degree. F. is in the range from about 30,000 cps to about 80,000 cps, and the viscosity of the composition at 120.degree. F. is in the range from about 500 cps to about 1,500 cps.
- 15. A composition of matter, as in claim 14, wherein said heptane includes n-heptane.
- 16. A composition of matter, as in claim 14, wherein said solvent system further includes a petroleum distillate.
- 17. A composition of matter, as in claim 16, wherein said petroleum distillate comprises a naphthenic distillate.
- 18. A composition of matter, as in claim 14, wherein said copolymer is a block copolymer selected from the group consisting of styrene-isoprene block copolymers, styrene-isoprene-styrene block copolymers, styrene-butadiene block copolymers, styrene-butadiene-styrene block copolymers, styrene-ethylene/butylene-styrene block copolymers, and mixtures thereof.
- 19. A composition of matter, as in claim 14, comprising about 40 to about 60 parts by weight of said solvent system, and wherein said solvent system comprises about 30 to about 55 percent by weight heptane about 45 to about 70 percent by weight petroleum distillates.
- 20. A composition of matter, as in claim 14, wherein the composition further comprises a processing oil.
- 21. A composition of matter for waterproofing a surface of a wall comprising:
- from about 40 to about 60 parts by weight of a polymeric base, said polymer base including
- from about 40 to about 60 parts by weight of a hydrocarbon resin, and
- from about 60 to about 40 parts by weight of an elastomeric copolymer having units selected from the group including styrene, isoprene, butadiene, ethylene, butylene and mixtures thereof, wherein said hydrocarbon resin and said copolymer total about 100 parts by weight, up to about 7 parts by weight of a naphthenic processing oil based upon about 100 parts by weight of said polymeric base; and
- from about 60 to about 40 parts by weight of a solvent system, wherein said solvent system includes a blend of petroleum distillates and heptane wherein said heptane comprises n-heptane, and wherein said polymer base and said solvent system total about 100 parts by weight.
