Claims
- 1. A process for the preparation of a ceramic material comprising pyrolysing a polymeric hydridosilazane of the formula ##STR5## in which the free valencies of the nitrogen atoms are saturated with H atoms or silyl radicals R*SiXN< wherein X is H, Cl or N<, and in which R, R', R" and R* denote alkyl groups having 1 to 6 carbon atoms and a, b, d and e denote the molar fractions of the particular structural units, wherein the value of a and b ranges from 0.1 to 0.8, and the value of the sum of d+e ranges from 0.1-0.8, at 800.degree. C. to 1,400.degree. C., in an inert nitrogen or argon atmosphere.
- 2. The process as claimed in claim 1, wherein R=R'=R"=R*=CH.sub.3.
- 3. The process of claim 1 wherein said polymeric hydridosilizane is shaped from a solution of the polymeric hydridosilazane in solvent before pyrolysis.
- 4. The process of claim 3 wherein the polymeric hydridosilazane is shaped to a coating or fiber.
- 5. A process for the preparation of a ceramic material comprising pyrolysing a polymeric hydridosilazane of the formula: ##STR6## in which the free valencies of the nitrogen atoms are saturated with H atoms or silyl radicals R*SiXN< wherein X is H, Cl or N<, and in which R, R', R" and R* denote alkyl groups having 1 to 6 carbon atoms and a, b, d and e denote the molar fractions of the particular structural units, wherein the value of a and b ranges from 0.1 to 0.8, and the value of the sum of d+e ranges from 0.1-0.8, at 800.degree. C. to 1,400.degree. C., in an NH.sub.3 atmosphere.
