Claims
- 1. A silyl ether lubricant having the following formula: ##STR14## wherein: Z is a fluoroalkylether group; x is 1 or 2; and R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are each selected from the group consisting of alkyl and aromatic organic radicals.
- 2. The silyl ether lubricant according to claim 1, wherein x is 1 and Z has the following formula:
- HOCH.sub.2 CS.sub.2 O--CF.sub.2 --
- wherein each of m and n is 0 or an integer of up to about 100.
- 3. The silyl ether lubricant according to claim 1, wherein:
- R.sub.1 CH.sub.3 or C.sub.6 H.sub.5 ;
- R.sub.2 CH.sub.3 or C.sub.6 H.sub.5 ; and
- R.sub.3 CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --(CF.sub.2).sub.5 --CF.sub.3, C--(CH.sub.3).sub.3,
- CH.sub.2 --(CH.sub.2).sub.16 --CH.sub.3,C.sub.6 H.sub.5, or CH.sub.2 --(CH.sub.2).sub.6 --CH.sub.3.
- 4. The silyl ether lubricant according to claim 1, wherein x is 1 and Z has the following formula:
- F(CF.sub.2 CF.sub.2 CF.sub.2 O).sub.n CF.sub.2 CF.sub.2 --
- wherein n is an integer of about 15 to about 100.
- 5. The silyl ether lubricant according to claim 1, wherein the silyl ether lubricant has a molecular weight of about 1000 to about 6000.
- 6. The silyl ether lubricant of claim 1, wherein x is 2.
- 7. The silyl ether lubricant according to claim 1, wherein x is 2 and Z has the following formula:
- --CF.sub.2 O.sub.n --.sub.m --CF.sub.2 --
- wherein each of m and n is 0 or an integer of up to about 100.
- 8. The silyl ether lubricant according to claim 1, wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, and R.sub.3 are selected from the group consisting of: methyl, ethyl, propyl, propenyl, butyl, decyl, lauryl, oleyl, stearyl, phenyl, tolyl, xylyl, naphthyl and halogenated derivatives thereof.
- 9. The silyl ether lubricant according to claim 1, wherein at least one of R.sub.1, R.sub.2 or R.sub.3 is alkyl or a halogenated derivative thereof.
- 10. The silyl ether lubricant according to claim 1, wherein at least one of R.sub.1, R.sub.2 or R.sub.3 is a fluorinated alkyl radical.
