Claims
- 1. A process for secondary recovery of petroleum from a subterranean geological formation comprising injecting into said formation a treatment solution containing a bioemulsifier product of a cyanobacterium that is a member of the Phormidium genus in a concentration sufficient to disperse petroleum in the formation into said treatment solution, and recovering said treatment solution.
- 2. A process according to claim 1 wherein said bioemulsifier has a molecular weight greater than 200,000 Daltons, contains sugar, a fatty acid, and protein moieties, and amide, carboxylic and amino groups.
- 3. A process according to claim 2 wherein said cyanobacterium is a benthic bacterium.
- 4. A process according to claim 2 wherein said member is strain J-1.
