Claims
- 1. A thin film optical waveguiding medium comprising a sidechain polymer having recurring units of the formula: ##STR19## where P' is a polymer main chain unit, S' is a pendant spacer group having a linear chain length of between about 2-12 atoms; n' is an integer greater than 0, n is zero or an integer greater than 0, C is accordingly an optical comonomer unit and M' is an organic structure containing an electron donating group and an electron withdrawing group at opposing terminii of a conjugated II electron system.
