Claims
- 1. A process for preparing an olefin polymer by polymerization of one or more olefins in the presence of the catalyst which comprises the combination ofa) at least one transition metal compound and b) at least one cocatalyst wherein said transition metal compound is of the formula I where M1 is a metal of group IIIb, IVb or Vb of the Periodic Table of the Elements, R1, R2, R3 and R4 are identical or different and are each a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a C1-C40-hydrocarbon-containing group, an —SiR53, —NR52, —Si(OR5)3, —Si(SR5)3 or —PR52 radical, where R5 are identical or different and are each a halogen atom, a C1-C10-alkyl group or a C6-C10-aryl group, or two or more radicals R1, R2, R3 or R4 together with the atoms connecting them form a ring system, Y are identical or different and are each a hydrogen atom, a C1-C40-hydrocarbon-containing group, an OH group, a halogen atom or an NR52 group, where R5 are identical or different and are each a halogen atom, a C1-C10-alkyl group or a C6-C10-aryl group, k is an integer which corresponds to the valence of the transition metal atom M1 minus two and if Y is a butadiene unit, k is 1, A is a bridge, R8 is a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a C1-C40-group, an —SiR53, —NR52, —Si(OR5)3, —Si(SR5)3 or —PR52 radical, where R5 are identical or different and are each a halogen atom, a C1-C10-alkyl group or a C6-C10-aryl group, and X is an element of group Va or VIa of the Periodic Table of the Elements, where if X is an element of group Va, X bears a radical R9 which is a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a C1-C40-group, an —SiR53, —NR52, —Si(OR5)3, —Si(SR5)3 or —PR52 radical, where R5 are identical or different and are each a halogen atom, a C1-C10-alkyl group or a C6-C10-aryl group.
- 2. The process as claimed in claim 1, wherein said at least one cocatalyst is an aluminoxane or an aluminum alkyl or a mixture thereof.
- 3. The process as claimed in claim 2, wherein said aluminoxane is of the formula Xa for the linear type and/or the formula Xb for the cyclic type, where, in the formulae Xa and Xb, the radicals R14 are identical or different and are each hydrogen or a C1-C20-hydrocarbon group and p is an integer from 2 to 50.
- 4. The process as claimed in claim 3, wherein the radicals R14 are identical and are hydrogen, methyl, isobutyl, phenyl or benzyl.
- 5. The process as claimed in claim 1, whereinM1 is a metal of group IVb of the Periodic Table of the Elements, R1, R2, R3 and R4 are identical or different and are each a hydrogen atom or a C1-C10-hydrocarbon-containing group or two or more radicals R1, R2, R3 or R4 together with the atoms connecting them form a ring system, Y are identical and are each a C1-C10-hydrocarbon-containing group or a halogen atom, A is where n is an integer from 1 to 8, R6 and R7 are identical or different and are each a hydrogen atom or a C1-C10-hydrocarbon-containing group or in each case two radicals R6, in each case two radicals R7, or one of each of the radicals R6 and R7 in each case together with the atoms connecting them form a hydrocarbon ring system, R8 is a C1-C10-hydrocarbon group, and X is an element of group Va or group VIa of the Periodic Table of the Elements, where if X is an element of group Va, X bears a radical R9 which is a hydrogen atom or a C1-C10-hydrocarbon-containing group, or an —SiR53, —NR52, —Si(OR5)3, —Si(SR5)3 or —PR52 radical, where R5 are identical or different and are each a C1-C10-alkyl group or a C6-C10-aryl group.
- 6. The process as claimed in claim 5, whereinM1 is titanium or zirconium, R1, R2, R3 and R4 are identical or different and are each a hydrogen atom, a C1-C4-alkyl group or a C6-C10-aryl group, or R1 and R2 or R3 and R4 or R2 and R3 together with the atoms connecting them form an aromatic hydrocarbon ring system, Y are identical and are methyl, phenyl or chlorine, A is where R6 and R7 are identical or different and are each a hydrogen atom, a C1-C4-alkyl group or a C6-C10-aryl group, R8 is a C1-C4-alkyl group or a C6-C10-aryl group, X is nitrogen or oxygen, where if X is nitrogen it bears a radical R9 which is a hydrogen atom, a C1-C4-alkyl group, a C6-C10-aryl group, —SiR53 or —Si(OR5)3, where R5 are identical or different and are each a C1-C4-alkyl group or a C6-C10-aryl group.
- 7. The process as claimed in claim 1, wherein said catalyst is a supported catalyst.
- 8. The process as claimed in claim 1, wherein n is 1, 2, 3 or 4 and R1 and R2, orR3 and R4, or R2 and R3 together with the atoms connecting them form a six membered aromatic ring which optionally is substituted.
- 9. - 10. The process as claimed in claim 9, wherein said at least one cocatalyst is an aluminoxane or an aluminum alkyl or a mixture thereof.
- 11. The process as claimed in claim 10, wherein said aluminoxane is of the formula Xa for the linear type and/or the formula Xb for the cyclic type, where, in the formulae Xa and Xb, the radicals R14 are identical or different and are each hydrogen or a C1-C20-hydrocarbon group and p is an integer from 2 to 50.
- 12. The process as claimed in claim 11, wherein the radicals R14 are identical and are hydrogen, methyl, isobutyl, phenyl or benzyl.
- 13. The process claimed in claim 1, wherein A is where n is an integer from 1 to 20, l is an integer from 1 to 20, Z is SO2, O or S, where R5 are identical or different and are each a halogen atom, a C1-C10-alkyl group or a C6-C10-aryl group, R6 and R7 are identical or different and are each a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a C1-C40-hydrocarbon-containing group or in each case two radicals R6, in each case two radicals R7, or one of each of the radicals R6 and R7 in each case together with the atoms connecting them form a ring system and M2 is silicon, germanium or tin, M1 is a metal of group IVb of the Periodic Table of the Elements, R1, R2, R3 and R4 are identical or different and are each a hydrogen atom or a C1-C10-hydrocarbon-containing group or two or more radicals R1, R2, R3 or R4 together with the atoms connecting them form a ring system, Y are identical and are each a C1-C10-hydrocarbon-containing group or a halogen atom.
