Claims
- 1. A capillary electrophoresis element comprising:a capillary containing an electrophoretic separation medium including a surface interaction component comprising a solution of one or more uncharged water-soluble silica-adsorbing polymers; wherein the inside surface of the capillary is uncoated, and wherein the capillary does not contain a crosslinked polymer gel.
- 2. The capillary electrophoresis element of claim 1 wherein the capillary is made of fused silica.
- 3. The capillary electrophoresis element of claim 1 wherein the one or more uncharged water-soluble silica-adsorbing polymers comprises an un-crosslinked N,N-disubstituted polyacrylamide or an un-crosslinked N-substituted polyacrylamide.
- 4. The capillary electrophoresis element of claim 3 wherein the nitrogen substituents are selected from the group consisting of C1 to C3 alkyl, halo-substituted C1 to C3 alkyl, methoxy-substituted C1 to C3 alkyl, and hydroxyl-substituted C1 to C3 alkyl.
- 5. The capillary electrophoresis element of claim 4 wherein the one or more uncharged water-soluble silica-adsorbing polymers is poly(N,N-dimethylacrylamide).
- 6. The capillary electrophoresis element of claim 1 further comprising a denaturant.
- 7. The capillary electrophoresis element of claim 6 wherein the denaturant is selected from the group consisting of formamide, urea, and pyrrolidinone.
- 8. The capillary electrophoresis element of claim 7 wherein the denaturant is pyrrolidinone.
- 9. The capillary electrophoresis element of claim 1 further comprising a sieving component.
- 10. The capillary electrophoresis element of claim 9 wherein the sieving component is linear polyacrylamide.
- 11. The capillary electrophoresis element of claim 1 wherein the one or more uncharged water-soluble silica-adsorbing polymers comprises a polyvinylactam.
- 12. The capillary electrophoresis element of claim 11 wherein the polyvinylactam is polyvinylpyrrolidone.
