Claims
- 1. A polymer produced by a process comprising polymerizing (1) one of the members of the group consisting of maleic acid, malic acid, or fumaric acid, (2) less than one equivalent of ammonia, and (3) a carboxylic acid, at a temperature greater than about 120.degree. C., to produce said polymer.
- 2. The polymer of claim 1 wherein the carboxylic acid is selected from the group consisting of mono and polycarboxylic acids.
- 3. A polymer produced by a process comprising polymerizing (1) one of the members of the group consisting of maleic acid, malic acid, or fumaric acid, (2) less than one equivalent of ammonia, (3) an amine and (4) a carboxylic acid, at a temperature greater than about 120.degree. C., to produce said polymer, wherein the amine has at least one primary amine and additional amine groups consisting of at least one or more primary or secondary amines.
- 4. The polymer of claim 1 wherein said process further comprises polymerizing with at least one method selected from the group consisting of stirring, tumbling and pulverizing.
- 5. The polymer of claim 2 wherein said process further comprises polymerizing with at least one method selected from the group consisting of stirring, tumbling and pulverizing.
- 6. The polymer of claim 3 wherein said process further comprises polymerizing at with at least one method selected from the group consisting of stirring, tumbling and pulverizing.
