Claims
- 1. A salt produced by hydrolyzing the polymer produced by a process comprising polymerizing (1) one of the members of the group consisting of maleic acid, malic acid, or fumaric acid, (2) less than one equivalent of ammonia and (3) an amine, at a temperature greater than about 120.degree. C., to produce said polymer.
- 2. A salt produced by hydrolyzing the polymer produced by a process comprising polymerizing (1) one of the members of the group consisting of maleic acid, malic acid, or fumaric acid, (2) less than one equivalent of ammonia, (3) an amine and (4) a carboxylic acid, at a temperature greater than about 120.degree. C., to produce said polymer.
