Claims
- 1. Optical devices comprising hard glass polymers having a high refractive index and low optical dispersion, said polymers having the general formula: ##STR22## in which R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, which can be the same or different, are divalent organic radicals, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4, which can be the same or different, are monovalent organic radicals, n is a whole number greater than 2 and y is 0 or 1, and wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.4, and y and n together form a polymeric base structure which promotes glass formation and prevents crystallization, and X.sup.- is a mono- or polyvalent organic or non-halogen inorganic counter ion replacing an equivalent halogen ion and suitable for adjusting the solid body properties of the polymers.
