Claims
- 1. In a process for resolving a racemic modification into optical isomers, the improvement comprising contacting said racemic modification with a separating agent comprising a polysaccharide derivative, said polysaccharide derivative comprising a polysaccharide produced in a process in which hydroxyl or amino groups are replaced by different substituents at either the 2- or 3-position and 6-position, said substituents being selected from the group consisting of ##STR13## when hydroxyl groups are replaced and selected from the group consisting of ##STR14## when amino groups are replaced, R.sup.1 representing an alkyl group, a substituted alkyl group, an aromatic group, a substituted aromatic group or an aralkyl group; R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.7, R.sup.8 and R.sup.9 each representing hydrogen, an alkyl group, a substituted alkyl group, an aromatic group, a substituted aromatic group or an aralkyl group; and R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 each representing hydrogen, an alkyl group, a substituted alkyl group, an aromatic group, a substituted aromatic group, an aralkyl group or an acyl group, with the proviso that R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 are not simultaneously hydrogen.
- 2. The process of claim 1, wherein said different substituents are a 3,5-dimethylphenylcarbamate group represented by the following formula (1) and a 3,5-dichlorophenylcarbamate group represented by the following formula (II): ##STR15## and said polysaccharide derivative is optionally supported on a carrier.
- 3. The process of claim 2, wherein said different substituents are provided at the 2-position and the 6-position.
- 4. The process of claim 3, wherein said polysaccharide is cellulose.
- 5. The process of claim 2, wherein said different substituents are provided at the 3-position and the 6-position.
- 6. The process of claim 5, wherein said polysaccharide is cellulose.
- 7. The process of claim 2, wherein the same substituent is provided at the 2-position and the 3-position.
- 8. The process of claim 7, wherein said same substituent is 3,5-dimethylphenylcarbamate.
- 9. The process of claim 8, wherein said polysaccharide is cellulose.
- 10. The process of claim 7, wherein said polysaccharide is cellulose.
