Claims
- 1. A dispersing agent of formula:
- (R.sub.H --L).sub.y --(R.sub.F --L).sub.x R.sub.H (I)
- wherein:
- x is an integer from 1 to 3;
- y is 0 or 1, with the proviso that x=1 when y=1;
- R.sub.H is a radical having a linear or branched C.sub.5 -C.sub.70 alkyl or cycloalkyl or C.sub.10 -C.sub.50 alkylaryl or arylalkyl group, optionally containing C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy groups, or having a polyoxyalkylenic structure, wherein the alkylenic part has from 2 to 4 carbon atoms and the number of oxyalkylenic units is between 5 and 70; RF.sub.F is a (per) fluoropolyoxyalkylene radical having a number average molecular weight Mn of between 350 and 2,000;
- L is a divalent organic group, bridging between R.sub.F and R.sub.H selected from:
- --CONR.sup.1 --; --CH.sub.2 (OCH.sub.2 CHR.sup.2).sub.a --O--; --CH.sub.2 (OCH.sub.2 CHR.sup.2).sub.b --O--CO--; and
- --CH.sub.2 O(CH.sub.2).sub.c --CO--O--;
- wherein R.sup.1 is --H or an C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl; R.sup.2 is --H or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.2 alkyl; a and b are integers from 0 to 6; and c is an integer from 1 to 3.
- 2. The dispersing agent of claim 1, wherein R.sub.F has a number average molecular weight M.sub.n of between 400 to 1,000.
- 3. The dispersing agent of claim 1, wherein in the formula (I) x=1, and R.sub.H is a monovalent group selected from:
- (i) --(CH.sub.2).sub.n E.sup.1, wherein: n is an integer from 5 to 50 and E.sub.1 is --H;
- (ii) --(CH.sub.2 CH(CH.sub.3)O).sub.p CH.sub.2 CHR.sup.3 E.sup.2, wherein: p is an integer from 5 to 70; R.sup.3 is selected from --H and --CH.sub.3 ; and E.sup.2 is C.sub.1- C.sub.4 alkoxy; and
- (iii) --(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.q --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 E.sup.3, wherein: q is an integer from 5 to 70 and E.sup.3 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy;
- (iv) --(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.r (CH.sub.2 CH(CH.sub.3)O).sub.s CH.sub.2 CHR.sup.3 E.sup.2, wherein r+s is an integer from 5 to 70; the r/s ratio is between 0.1 and 10; R.sup.3 is selected from --H and CH.sub.3 ; E.sup.2 is as defined above; and R.sup.4 is C.sub.4 alkoxy.
- 4. The dispersing agent of claim 1, wherein in the formula (I) x=2, and R.sub.H is a divalent group selected from:
- (i) --(CH.sub.2).sub.n E.sup.1, wherein: n is an integer from 5 to 50 and E.sub.1 is --H;
- (ii) --(CH.sub.2 CH(CH.sub.3)O).sub.p CH.sub.2 CHR.sup.3 E.sup.2, wherein: p is an integer from 5 to 70; R.sup.3 is selected from --H and --CH.sub.3 ; and E.sup.2 is C.sub.1- C.sub.4 alkoxy;
- (iii) --(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.q --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 E.sup.3, wherein: q is an integer from 5 to 70 and E.sup.3 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy; and
- (iv) --(CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 O).sub.r (CH.sub.2 CH(CH.sub.3)O).sub.s CH.sub.2 CHR.sup.3 E.sup.2, wherein r+s is an integer from 5 to 70; the r/s ratio is between 0.1 and 10; R.sup.3 is selected from --H and --CH.sub.3 ; and R.sup.4 is C.sub.1-C.sub.4 alkoxy;
- wherein E.sup.1, E.sup.2, E.sup.3 and E.sup.4 indicate covalent bonds.
- 5. The dispersing agent of claim 1, wherein in the formula (I) x=3, and R.sub.H is
- a trivalent group of formula:
- CH.sub.2 --(OCH.sub.2 CHR.sup.4).sub.t --and
- CH --(OCH.sub.2 CHR.sup.4).sub.t --,
- wherein R.sup.4 is --H or an C.sub.1 -C.sub.2 alkyl and t is an integer from 3 to 10.
- 6. The dispersing agent of claim 1, wherein the (per)fluoropolyoxyalkylene group R.sub.F is formed by one or more repeating units, statistically distributed along the chain, selected from:
- --(CF(CF.sub.3)CF.sub.2 O)--; --(CF.sub.2 CF(CF.sub.3)O)--; --(CF.sub.2 CF.sub.2 O)--; --(CFXO)--,
- wherein X is --F or --CF.sub.3 and (CYZ--CF.sub.2 CF.sub.2 O)-- wherein Y and Z are independently F, Cl or H.
- 7. The dispersing agent of claim 1, wherein the number of oxyalkylenic units is between 10 and 50.
- 8. The dispersing agent of claim 1, wherein a and b are independently 0, 1 or 2.
- 9. The dispersing agent of claim 3, wherein n is an integer from 10 to 40.
- 10. The dispersing agent of claim 3, wherein p is an integer from 10 to 50.
- 11. The dispersing agent of claim 3, wherein q is an integer from 10 to 25.
- 12. The dispersing agent of claim 3, wherein r+s is an integer from 10 to 50 and the r/s ratio is between 0.1 and 10.
- 13. A process for preparing a dispersing agent of claim 1, comprising:
- (1) when L is a --CO--NR.sup.1 --group, reacting the corresponding (per)fluoropolyoxyalkylene functionalized with --CO--B groups, --Cl or --F with a mono- or polyamine of formula R.sub.H (NHR.sup.1).sub.x wherein B is --OR.sup.5 and R.sup.5 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl;
- (2) when L is --CH.sub.2 (OCH.sub.2 CHR.sup.2).sub.a --O--, reacting the corresponding (per)fluoropolyoxyalkylene functionalized with --CH.sub.2 (OCH.sub.2 CHR.sup.2).sub.a O.sup.-Me.sup.+ alcoholate groups with a compound R.sub.H (X).sub.x, wherein Me is alkaline metal and X is --Cl, --Br or tosylate ion;
- (3) when L is --CH.sub.2 (OCH.sub.2 CHR.sup.2).sub.b --O--CO--, carrying out an esterification reaction between the corresponding (per)fluoropolyoxyalkylene functionalized with --CH.sub.2 (OCH.sub.2 CHR.sup.2).sub.b --OH groups and an acyl halide of formula R.sub.H (COY).sub.x, wherein Y is --F or --Cl; and
- (4) when L is --CH.sub.2 O--(CH.sub.2).sub.c --CO--O--, reacting the corresponding (per)fluoropolyoxyalkylene functionalized with --CH.sub.2 O.sup.- Me.sup.+ alcoholate groups with an halogenated ketone of formula R.sub.H (O--CO--(CH.sub.2).sub.c --Z).sub.X, wherein Me is alkaline metal and Z is --Cl, --Br or tosylate ion.
