Claims
- 1. A process for making an epoxide polymer, said process comprising polymerizing an epoxide in the presence of a polyurethane foam-supported double metal cyanide catalyst.
- 2. The process of claim 1 wherein the double metal cyanide catalyst is a zinc hexacyanocobaltate.
- 3. The process of claim 1 wherein the epoxide is selected from the group consisting of ethylene oxide, propylene oxide, butylene oxides, and mixtures thereof.
- 4. The process of claim 1 wherein the foam-supported double metal cyanide catalyst is recovered from the epoxide polymer and is reused as an epoxide polymerization catalyst.
- 5. A process for preparing an epoxide polymer, said process comprising polymerizing an epoxide in the presence of a polyurethane foam-supported double metal cyanide catalyst, wherein the foam-supported double metal cyanide catalyst comprises:
- (a) a double metal cyanide catalyst; and
- (b) a polyurethane foam support;
- wherein the double metal cyanide catalyst comprises a double metal cyanide compound, an organic complexing agent, and from about 5 to about 80 wt. %, based on the amount of double metal cyanide catalyst, of a polyether.
