Claims
- 1. A ramp between a base surface and a step comprising:
a first panel having a proximate end and a distal end, said proximate end of said first panel resting on the step; a distal panel having a proximate end and a distal end and positioned in distal relation to the distal end of the first panel, the distal end of the distal panel being adjacent the base surface; and a detachable means for connecting said proximate end of the distal panel to the distal end of said first panel.
- 2. The ramp of claim 1 wherein at least one additional panel is interposed between the first panel and the distal panel.
- 3. The ramp of claim 2 wherein each at least one additional panel has a proximate end and a distal end, each proximate end being connected to the distal end of its adjacent panel by a detachable connection means and each distal end being connected to the proximate end of its adjacent panel by a detachable connection means.
- 4. The ramp of claim 3 wherein the detachable means for connecting the distal end and the proximate end of adjacent panels is a tongue and groove combination.
- 5. The ramp of claim 1 wherein the first panel has a proximate end cap, the proximate end cap engaged by a tongue and groove combination at the proximate end of the first panel.
- 6. The ramp of claim 1 wherein at the distal end of the distal panel there are vertically adjustable support legs.
- 7. The ramp of claim 2 wherein the first, distal and at least one additional panels each have opposed lateral sides and on at least one of said lateral sides there are substantially vertical support means detachably connected to said first, distal and at least one additional panels and said substantially vertical support means support rail means which are substantially parallel to said first, distal and at least one additional panels.
- 8. The ramp of claim 2 wherein the first, distal and at least one additional panels are substantially identical and are positionally interchangeable with one another.
- 9. The ramp of claim 2 wherein the first, distal and at least one additional panels each have a rigid polymeric outer wall and a polymeric foam injected core.
- 10. The ramp of claim 5 wherein the distal panel has a distal end cap, the distal end cap engaged by a tongue and groove combination at the distal end of the distal panel.
- 11. The ramp of claim 10 wherein the proximate end cap and the distal end cap each have non-skid surfaces in contact with the step and base surface, respectively.
- 12. An assembly comprising at least two substantially identical panels positioned adjacent one another, each panel having a proximate end and a distal end, adjacent panels positioned with their respective proximate and distal ends oriented towards one another and detachably connected by a tongue and groove combination.
- 13. The assembly of claim 12 further comprising end caps detachably connected by the tongue and groove combination at proximate and distal ends of panels not adjacent another panel.
- 14. The ramp of claim 4 wherein the tongue and groove combination further comprises at least one locking pin extending through corresponding apertures in the tongue and groove combination of adjacent panels.
- 15. The ramp of claim 13 wherein the tongue and groove combination further comprises at least one locking pin extending through corresponding apertures in the tongue and groove combination of adjacent panels.
- 16. The ramp of claim 7 wherein the substantially vertical support means further comprise:
a flat plate corresponding to and attached at a lower end of each vertical support means, each plate substantially parallel to the panels and engaging a slot in the lateral side of one of the panels; and a locking pin for each flat plate extending through corresponding apertures in the panel and the flat plate.
