Abstract
A smoking device that is portable and reusable. The smoking device implements a swivel cover that allows the cover to rotate 180 degrees, such that when the device is in the smoking configuration the smoking bowl is open where smoking material can be placed inside the bowl for smoking. By rotating the top portion by 180 degrees, the smoking pipe is in a closed configuration, such that the top portion fully covers the bowl and extinguishes the smoking material. Further, when the device is in the configuration where the bowl is closed, the device can be neatly stored and transported without emitting unpleasant odors and expelling the smoking content therein.
Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a smoking pipe that is reusable, durable and portable. The smoking device allows the transport of the smoking pipe with enclosed smoking material. Further, the device allows for smoking a portion of the smoking material, closing the device and smoking the remainder of the smoking material at a later time. The device allows for tightly enclosing the smoking material within the device such that no odors are emitted and/or material is expelled from the smoking pipe, making the smoking pipe easily and conveniently transportable in between smoking. Further, the smoking pipe is easily cleaned, is dishwasher safe and can be reused for a long time.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Conventional smoking pipes are made of a chamber, a stummel, a stem and a mouthpiece. The chamber also known as the bowl is where smoking material is loaded and ignited for smoking. During the ignition process of the pipe, the smoker places its mouth on the mouthpieces and creates a vacuum by sucking air and smoke through the mouthpiece. Conventional smoking pipes are made in a way that the smoker must smoke the entirety of the smoking material within the chamber and does not allow for easy transport. Thus, the smoker must either smoke the entirety of the smoking material in one session or empty out the smoking material and ash prior to transport causing loss in smoking material. If smoker is to travel with the traditional smoking pipe, the smoking material will fall out causing a mess and expel unpleasant odors.

Further, in the traditional smoking pipe there is no filter between chamber and the mouthpiece. A traditional smoking pipe is ā€œLā€ shaped, and it is the ā€œLā€ shape of the pipe that prevents smoking residue from entering the smoker's mouth. Despite best efforts, smoking particulates still manage to travel during inhalation and disrupt the smoking experience. Since its conception the smoking pipe has not been the subject of much innovation and the same issues that were present historically, persist today. These issues include and are not limited to, the difficulty in cleaning the pipe from ashes and smoking residue, which is tedious and lengthy, the inability to travel with the pipe, and allows for ash and smoking residue to escape during inhalation disrupting the smoking experience.

The present invention seeks to create a more enjoyable, efficient, and pragmatic approach to smoking. Specifically, the present invention allows the pipe to be portable when loaded with smoking material. The present invention achieves this by providing a cover that is magnetically attached to the smoking pipe, that can swivel on the mid axis either opening the smoking bowl or closing the smoking bowl. When the cover is in the open position exposing the bowl, smoking material can be placed inside the bowl, ignited and smoked. When the cover is in the closed position, such that the cover closes the smoking bowl, this allows for the smoking material to be immediately extinguished, and securely enclosing the smoking material without emitting unpleasant odors.

The present invention also makes for a more pleasant smoking experience, by reducing the escape of residue and increasing smoke concentration during inhalation. This is achieved by a combination of features including having a bowl that is perforated on the bottom, having a threaded cooling feature inside the smoking channel of the pipe and another channel to control air flow. The perforations act as a filter for the smoke and reduce ash fallout during smoking. In addition, the threaded nature of the smoking channel that connects the bowl to the mouthpiece, increases the surface to volume ratio of the channel which cools and concentrates the smoke creating a smoother and more pleasant smoking experience. Further the side channel, allows the smoker to control the influx of air into the bowl, controlling the concentration of the smoke inhaled.

In contrast to the traditional smoking pipes, the portable reuseable smoking pipe is dishwasher safe, can be easily cleaned and used for many smoking sessions, mainly due to the materials that the smoking pipe is made of.

SUMMARY OF THE DISCLOSURE

Various embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to a portable, reusable, odorless smoking pipe that delivers a more pleasant smoking experience.

A person skilled in the art would readily appreciate that the present disclosure may be a basis for modifying or designing other structures for carrying out the same purposes of the present disclosure. Such equivalent constructions do not depart from the teachings of the disclosure as set forth in the present specification, drawings and claims. The novel features, which are believed to be characteristic of the disclosure, both as to its organization and method of operation, together with further purposes and advantages, will be better understood from the following description when considered in connection with the figures provided herein.

The reusable and portable smoking device solves the issues presented with traditional smoking pipes, such as the odor it omits, its portability and its longevity. Further, its sleek design is such that it can be conveniently stored in a pocket or a bag for travel. The smoking pipe features three main portions, the top portion, the bottom portion and the bowl where smoking material is placed. In the preferred embodiment, the top portion and the bottom portion both have an opening at their respective front ends. The top and the bottom portion in the preferred embodiment are held together by a series of magnets attached to the middle of the internal portion of the bottom portion and the top portion. The middle of the internal portion of the respective top and bottom portions features three magnets aligned with opposing pull. The center magnet of the top portion and the bottom portion are larger in size than the two adjacent magnets. This magnet configuration allows for the top portion to swivel and turn in 90-degree increments in relation to the bottom portion.

The bottom portion features an opening specifically designed to fit the bowl where the smoking material is placed. The opening of the bottom portion has indentations such that the bowl can comfortably fit, with the lip of the bowl abutting a cut out portion or indentation within the bottom portion such that when the top portion is rotated to align with the bottom portion, the bowl is securely held in place. The opening of the top portion is slightly smaller in diameter than the opening of the bottom portion such that when the opening of the bottom portion is aligned with the opening of the top portion, the top portion holds the bowl securely in place.

The bottom portion features two channels. The smoking channel, that extends from the opening of the bottom portion until the end of the bottom portion or the mouthpiece. The end of the bottom portion where the smoking channel ends, is where a smoker inhales the smoke emitted from the bowl. The smoking channel is threaded, such that during inhalation the smoke is concentrated by an internal vortex created by the threaded channel and is cooled for a more pleasant smoking experience. In the preferred embodiment, the threaded smoking channel is made of aluminum which is a material that absorbs the heat of the smoke and cools it during travel to the mouthpiece. The threaded smoking channel can be lined with any other comparable material that presents similar properties.

The bottom portion also features a second channel that runs perpendicular to the smoking channel and connects the opening of the bottom portion with the side of the bottom portion. This channel is used by the operator of the smoking device to control the amount of air let into the bowl during smoking. The operator can use its finger to control air flow into the bowl, for example by firmly placing its finger on the opening where no air is allowed and removing its finger to allow the desired amount of air into the bowl. The additional air helps aerate and control the concentration of smoke inhaled.

The bowl of the smoking device has opening or perforations on the bottom of the bowl, such that when smoking material is placed inside the bowl and ignited for smoking, the resulting ash and other debris are captured by bowl do not escape and disrupt the smoking experience. The openings allow for the smoke created in the bowl to travel through the smoking channel during inhalation.

In the preferred embodiment the top portion, the bottom portion and the bowl are made of stainless steel, because stainless steel is easy to clean, does not harbor odors, and can withstand high temperatures without corrosion.

The smoking device has two configurations, a smoking configuration and a travel or closed configuration. The smoking configuration is when the opening of the top portion is aligned with the opening of the bottom portion and the bowl. Smoking material is placed into the bowl and ignited for smoking. After smoking, the operator using the magnetic feature can turn the top portion such that the opening of the top portion is now in the opposition direction from the opening of the bottom portion and the top portion covers the opening of the bottom portion and the bowl, creating a vacuum and immediately extinguishing the burning smoking material and securely capturing the smoking material and its odors. In this travel or closed configuration, the smoking material is extinguished and is securely held withing the bowl and can safely travel with the operator and/or smoker without emitting unpleasant odors and expelling the inside smoking content. When the operator wants to smoke again, it can use the magnetic feature to rotate the top portion 180 degrees such that the opening of the top portion aligns with the opening of the bottom portion exposing the smoking material inside the bowl, ignite the smoking material and smoke.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

The following description is not to be interpreted or applied in a limiting sense, but as an illustration of the general principles and aspects of the invention. The breadth and scope of the present inventions are set forth by the claims. Various inventive features are described below that can each be used independently of one another or in combination with other disclosed and undisclosed features.

FIG. 1 depicts an embodiment of the present disclosure demonstrating an elevated top view of the smoking pipe 1. The smoking pipe 1 is composed of a top portion 2 and a bottom portion 4 that are complementary to one another. The top surface of the bottom portion 4 of the device 1 is comprised of a chamber 12 where a bowl 10 is inserted. The bowl 10 is where smoking material is added, is comprised of evenly spaced openings 18 that are located at the bottom of the bowl and allow air to pass through during smoking and prevent debris from escaping. The diameter of the openings 18 is optimized so that there is sufficient airflow for smoking. Further, the position of the bowl 10 in relation to the to the bottom portion, does not allow for particulate matter such as debris, ash and resin to carry through with the smoke disturbing the smoking experience. Further, the bowl 10 has a lip 19, that when placed in the chamber 12, perfectly sits within the chamber 12. The notch 16 allows for easy removal of the bowl 10 from the chamber 12 by pushing under the lip 19 of the bowl. When the top portion 2 and the bottom portion 4 are in this perpendicular configuration, the bowl 10 can be placed inside the chamber. When the top portion 2 is rotated 90 degrees, the opening of the top portion 14 and the chamber of the bottom portion 12 are aligned as depicted in FIG. 5, the user can place smoking material inside the bowl 10, light the smoking material inside the bowl 10 and smoke. When the smoking pipe 1 is in a configuration as shown in FIG. 5, the top portion 2 creates a tight seal between the top portion 2 and the bowl 10 eliminating all openings, this optimizes air flow and directs airflow through the bowl 10 and its openings 18. In contrast, when the when the top portion 2 is rotated 90 degrees in the other direction where the opening of the top portion 14 aligns with the opening 6 of the bottom portion 4, and the chamber 12 is covered as shown in FIG. 7, then the chamber 12 is sealed extinguishing the smoking material and can be easily transported without emitting unpleasant odors.

In the preferred embodiment, the bowl 10 and the smoking device 1 are made of stainless steel or a comparable material. Stainless steel is known for its durability, longevity, stability at high temperatures, is easy to clean and is odor resistant. Having the entirety of the pipe and the bowl 10 be made of stainless steel allows the devise especially the bowl to repeatedly reach high temperatures without disintegrating or release of toxic biproducts into the smoke creating a long-lasting, pleasant and reusable product. Another feature of stainless steel is that it is easy to clean and is dishwasher safe.

The bottom portion 4 has an opening 8 which acts as a control mechanism for managing air flow into the device 1 by using the smoker's finger to control the timing and the amount of airflow into the device. The bottom portion 4 of the device 1 has another opening, the smoking channel or mouthpiece 6 where the operator of the device using his or her mouth creates a vacuum allowing the smoke to travel through the threaded smoking channel 20 and be inhaled by the operator. The threaded smoking channel 20 travels through the inside of the bottom portion 4 connecting the chamber 12 and the mouthpiece. The threaded nature of the smoking channel 20 cannot be seen by outside inspection of the device 1. The threaded smoking channel 20 of the device increases the surface to volume ratio of the smoke traveling through the threaded smoking channel 20 which cools the smoke by creating a vortex and allows the increase of smoke concentration creating a more pleasant and smoky experience.

In the preferred embodiment the internal threaded channel is made of aluminum or material that is comparable to the properties of aluminum. Aluminum cools the incoming hot smoke through the threaded smoking channel 20, creating a smoother and safer draw for the smoker.

FIG. 2 depicts the smoking pipe 1 and shows the components of the device when the components of the device as shown in FIG. 5 are pulled apart to show the internal mechanism. Here, the top portion 2 and the bottom portion 4 reveal each of their respective internal surfaces that come together when in a closed configuration as in FIG. 5. The top portion 2 and the bottom portion 4 come together via small magnets 22 and 24 that are placed in the midline of both the top portion 2 and the bottom portion 4. Each of the magnets 22 and 24 have opposing pull, such that when the top portion 2 and the bottom portion 4 come together, the magnets 22 and 24 clasp and securely hold the two portions together. The middle magnet 24 is larger in size than the two adjacent magnets 22, to allow the top portion 2 in relation to the bottom portion 4 to easily rotate in 90, 180, 270 and 360 degrees respectively and maintain its magnetic pull holding the top portion 2 and the bottom portion 4 together.

FIG. 3 depicts the smoking pipe from a top elevational view showing the components of the device as shown in FIG. 5 when they are pulled apart and laid flat to show the internal mechanism. The chamber 12 of the bottom portion 4, has an opening 8 that connects the chamber 12 with the outside environment. Further, the bottom portion has another opening 6, a threaded smoking channel 20 connecting the chamber 12 with the mouthpiece 6. The threaded channel 20 is coiled or threaded, extending from the chamber 12 to the mouthpiece 6. The threaded channel 20 is an internal feature that allows for the cooling and concentration of smoke during smoking.

FIG. 4 depicts the smoking device 1, from a top elevational view showing all the components of the smoking device and how the elements come together to form the smoking pipe as shown in FIG. 5. FIG. 4 demonstrates how the top portion 2, bottom portion 4 and the bowl 6 are assembled together. The bowl 10 is placed inside the chamber 12 of the bottom portion 4. After the bowl 10 is placed inside the chamber 12, the top portion 2 of the smoking device 1 is placed on top of the bottom portion 4 such that the magnets 22 and 24 with their respective opposing charges magnetically attach with one another. Further, the opening 14 of the top portion 2 and the chamber 12 of the bottom portion align to give the configuration of FIG. 5.

FIG. 5 depicts the smoking device in a smoking configuration where the bowl 10 is open. When the smoking device is in this smoking configuration, smoking material is placed into the bowl 10. Using a lighting tool, such as a lighter the smoking material is ignited and the operator by inhaling on the mouthpiece 6 creates a positive airflow through the threaded smoking channel 20. The smoker, holding the device can control the amount and the timing of air flow that is allowed into the chamber 12 by placing his/her finger on the opening 8 to create the optimal air flow. When the finger of the smoker is tightly holding side opening 8 and not allowing any air flow, due to the vacuum created during inhalation the air is transported through the chamber 12 burning the smoking material and creating smoke for smoking. If the smoker desires a less concentrated amount of smoke, then the smoker can allow desired air through the side opening 8 to dilute the concentration of smoke coming from the chamber 12.

The smoke as it travels through the threaded smoking channel 20, is cooled and concentrated increasing the quantity and quality of smoke. The internal thread of the channel 20, increases the surface to volume ratio of the internal chamber and creates an internal vortex of the smoke, which both cools the smoke and concentrates the smoke for a more pleasant smoking experience.

FIG. 6 depicts the smoking device 1 where the top portion 2 and the bottom portion 4 are perpendicular and allow for the placement or removal of the bowl 12. This change in configuration is made possible by the complementary magnets at the midpoint of each of the portions 2, 4 of the devices.

FIG. 7 depicts the smoking device 1 where the opening 14 of the top portion 2 is opposite the chamber 12 of the bottom portion 4 and completely seals the chamber 12 of the bottom portion 4. The smoker when done smoking can push the top portion 180 degrees to go from the smoking configuration presented in FIG. 5 to a closed configuration or travel configuration presented in FIG. 7. This allows the top portion 2 to seal the chamber 12 where burning smoking material is located. The sealing of the chamber 12 immediately extinguishes any burning of the smoking material, which preserves the smoking material and reduces smoke related odors. The device 1, in this configuration can safely travel with the smoker without expelling any of the contents and without emitting unpleasant odors.
