Claims
- 1. A portable brine evaporator unit for treating wastewater by-products from oil and gas well production, comprising:
a pump for bringing the wastewater to the evaporator unit, a rotating evaporator drum, and related drive motor assembly, a spray assembly for spraying the wastewater onto said drum, a heating assembly for heating said drum and the wastewater sprayed onto said drum, and a scraping knife for removing solid deposits on said drum that remain after evaporation of the wastewater.
- 2. The evaporator unit of claim 1, wherein said heating assembly comprises a natural gas burner adjacent to said drum.
- 3. The evaporator unit of claim 2, wherein said heating assembly further comprises a natural gas conduit that delivers natural gas gathered during oil and gas well production to said burner.
- 4. The evaporator unit of claim 3, wherein said heating assembly further comprises at least one pressure regulator for regulating the pressure of the natural gas at said burner.
- 5. The evaporator unit of claim 3, wherein said hearing assembly further comprises an in-line gas filter for removing any particulate matter and water from the natural gas.
- 6. The evaporator unit of claim 3, wherein said hearing assembly further comprises a natural gas flow regulator for regulating the flow of natural gas to said heating assembly.
- 7. The evaporator unit of claim 6, wherein said flow regulator comprises a natural gas flow meter and a burner gas train.
- 8. The evaporator unit of claim 7, wherein said burner gas train includes a modulation motor that controls the amount of natural gas and air flow to said burner gas train.
- 9. The evaporator unit of claim 3, where said heating assembly further comprises a flow meter.
- 10. The evaporator unit of claims 1 and 8, wherein said unit further comprises an electric generator for providing power to the operation of said evaporator unit.
- 11. The evaporator unit of claim 1, wherein said spray assembly includes atomization nozzles.
- 12. The evaporator unit of claim 1, wherein said unit further comprises a temperature controller for maintaining a constant flue gas temperature at said drum.
- 13. The evaporator unit of said claim 1, wherein said unit further comprises a contaminant hood located above said drum.
- 14. The evaporator unit of claim 1, wherein said unit further comprises a salt storage bin.
- 15. A portable process for removing brine from wastewater produced from oil and gas well production, comprising the steps of:
transporting a wastewater treatment unit to an oil and gas well production site, pumping wastewater from the oil and gas well production to said treatment unit, heating and evaporating the wastewater using natural gas from the oil and gas well production, and retaining the brine resulting from the heating and evaporating step.
