The foregoing features and elements may be combined in various combinations without exclusivity, unless expressly indicated otherwise. These features and elements as well as the operation thereof will become more apparent in light of the following description and the accompanying drawings. It should be appreciated that however the following description and drawings are intended to be exemplary in nature and non-limiting.
These and other features and advantages of the present invention will become more readily appreciated as the same becomes better understood by reference to the following detailed description when considered in connection with accompanying drawings, wherein:
With reference to
In one embodiment, the target coaster and the object coaster are each about 4 inches in diameter. The lower rim 26 defines a target coaster inner lower rim diameter 34 of about 3.75 inches. The upper rim 28 defines a target coaster inner upper rim diameter 36 of about 3.08 inches. The thickness of the target coaster 20 inclusive of the lower rim 26 and the upper rim 28 may be about 0.44 inches (
With reference to
In one embodiment, the object coasters 40 may each be assembled from a base portion 120 and a ring portion 122 that are co-molded together (
With reference to
The male ring member 130 in this embodiment fits within a corresponding groove 140 formed within a bottom surface 142 of the ring portion 122. That is, the groove 140 is engaged within the male ring member 130 as the ring portion 122 is over-molded/co-molded with the base portion 120.
Example Games
The portable coaster game 10 provides a fun recreational game that can be played indoors or outdoors on most surfaces and in various climate conditions with minimal to no affect to game play. The portable coaster game can be played on surfaces with inclines up to 45 degrees from a flat surface as a reference point.
The portable coaster game is easily transportable and can be placed into a backpack, cooler, or anything with a pouch. There are no heavy equipment pieces, and both the target and objects are drink coasters that are versatility manufactured to float on water, slide on various indoor surfaces, and withstand various outdoor surfaces and climate conditions including snow, water, sand, gravel, dirt, grass wood, rocks, pavement, asphalt, metal, carpet, tile stones, furniture, and cloth.
To initiate the portable coaster game 10, the target coaster is thrown out first in a forward direction away from the players by at least 10 feet in distance. The target coaster serves as the targeted object coaster of the game. With the evenly split object coasters, each player attempts to throw object coasters as close to the target coaster center marker as possible. The target coaster can be hit and moved around by the object coasters. Players can hit the target coaster to move it away from their opponents. Additionally, players can also hit each other's object coasters to make the game more competitive.
Points and Scoring
There can be multiple ways to score points in one version of the portable coaster tossing game. Firstly, each object coasters thrown and lands completely covering the entire target coaster receives 4 points. Secondly, each object coasters thrown and partially lands on top of the target main plate, but covers the target coaster center marker, receives 3 points. Thirdly, each object coasters thrown and lands on top of the target coaster outer rim diameter receives 2 points. Lastly, each object coasters closest to the target coaster receives 1 point. The first player to 21 points wins the game.
In other versions, closest to the target receives 1 point (If the same player has more coasters closer to the target than the other player they get more points. For example, if player 1 has all 4 coasters closer to the plate without player 2 getting 1 of theirs to break up the grouping of player 1: Player 1 receives 4 points.) Touching the target (If a coaster is touching or behind the inner rings on either side of the target player will get 2 points.) Past the rings on the target (If a coaster is leaning/past the inner rings on the target player will get 3 points.) Past the center (If the coaster is over the center dot on the target player will get 4 points.) On the target (Coaster is almost or completely on top or past the ring on target player will get 5 points.) Locked in (They are designed to lock into each other, so if a player throws his coaster and it lands on the target and locks into the groves player will win the game.) Best to 21 (cancellation).
