1. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a portable electronic device, and in particular relates to a portable electronic device with a display, such as telecom and automotive application devices.
2. Description of the Related Art
Conventional portable electronic device includes a display, a metal frame and a plastic insert. The display includes a glass panel. The plastic insert can be a separate part assembled to the metal frame. The plastic insert ensures existence of a gap between the glass panel and the metal frame, and prevents the glass panel from contacting the metal frame.
However, with miniaturization of portable electronic devices, the plastic insert is unable to decrease the gap between the glass panel and the metal frame due to dimensional limitations. A process where plastic is insert molded into a frame can be an intermediate solution until also this will reach its dimensional limitations.
A detailed description is given in the following embodiments with reference to the accompanying drawings.
A portable electronic device is provided. The portable electronic device includes a frame, a display and at least one spacing element. The display includes a panel, wherein the panel is disposed in the frame. The spacing element is adhered to the frame, and disposed between the frame and the panel.
For the portable electronic device of the invention, the gap between the frame and the panel is further reduced (for example, reduced to 0.02 mm to 1 mm). Therefore, further miniaturization of portable electronic devices can be achieved. The portable electronic device can be a mobile phone, Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), or other electronic devices.
The present invention can be more fully understood by reading the subsequent detailed description and examples with references made to the accompanying drawings, wherein:
The following description is of the best-contemplated mode of carrying out the invention. This description is made for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention and should not be taken in a limiting sense. The scope of the invention is best determined by reference to the appended claims.
With reference to
In the embodiment, the spacing elements 131, 132 and 133 are respectively adhered to part of the first wall 111, the second wall 112 and the third wall 113. However, the invention is not limited thereto. In a modified embodiment, the spacing elements can be adhered to the entire wall.
The spacing elements 131, 132 and 133 are made of elastic material, and an adhesive material is disposed on a side of the spacing elements. The spacing elements 131, 132 and 133 can be, for example, tape. A thickness of the spacing element can be 0.02 mm to 1 mm. The spacing elements 131, 132 and 133 prevent the panel from contacting the frame, and ensure proper panel alignment.
For the portable electronic device of the invention, the gap between the frame and the panel is further reduced (for example, reduced to 0.02 mm to 1 mm). Therefore, further miniaturization of portable electronic devices can be achieved. The portable electronic device can be a mobile phone, Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), automotive application device, or other electronic devices. In one embodiment, the portable electronic device can be very thin to achieve small borders.
While the invention has been described by way of example and in terms of the preferred embodiments, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the disclosed embodiments. To the contrary, it is intended to cover various modifications and similar arrangements (as would be apparent to those skilled in the art). Therefore, the scope of the appended claims should be accorded the broadest interpretation so as to encompass all such modifications and similar arrangements.
