Claims
- 1. A storage container comprising:
a base defining a bottom wall and a side wall extending upwardly from the bottom wall to define a storage receptacle; a first cover section coupled to the base side wall and extending over a portion of the storage receptacle, the first cover section having an exterior side defining a writing surface; and a second cover section pivotably coupled to the base side wall and movable between a closed position, in which the second cover section overlies a remaining portion of the storage receptacle, and an open position, in which the second cover section is rotated away from the storage receptacle.
- 2. The storage container of claim 1, in which an interior side of the second cover section defines a storage pocket, wherein the storage pocket is housed inside the storage receptacle when the second cover section is in the closed position and wherein the storage pocket is accessible when the second cover section is in the open position.
- 3. The storage container of claim 1, in which the first cover section is pivotably coupled to the base side wall and is movable between a closed position in which the first cover section overlies the portion of the storage receptacle and an open position in which the first cover section is rotated away from the storage receptacle.
- 4. The storage container of claim 3, in which an interior side of the first cover section defines a storage pocket, wherein the first cover section storage pocket is housed inside the storage receptacle when the first cover section is in the closed position and wherein the first cover section storage pocket is accessible when the first cover section is in the open position.
- 5. The storage container of claim 3, in which an interlock releasably engages the first and second cover sections to retain the first and second cover sections in the closed positions.
- 6. The storage container of claim 5, in which the interlock is selectively releasable to release a selected one of the first and second cover sections.
- 7. The storage container of claim 1, in which the base, first cover section, and second cover section in the closed position define an overall profile height sufficiently low to allow insertion of the storage container into a stowage space having a low profile height.
- 8. The storage container of claim 7, in which the overall profile height is less than 4 inches.
- 9. The storage container of claim 7, in which at least one of the first and second cover sections defines a recessed portion, and in which an interlock is disposed in the recessed portion and releasably engages the second cover section to retain the second cover section in the closed position.
- 10. The storage container of claim 1, in which an exterior side of the second cover section defines a second writing surface.
- 11. The storage container of claim 1, in which a roller is coupled to the base near the bottom wall.
- 12. The storage container of claim 1, in which a handle is coupled to the base.
- 13. A storage container comprising:
a base defining a bottom wall and a side wall extending upwardly from the bottom wall to define a storage receptacle; a first cover section coupled to the base side wall and extending over a portion of the storage receptacle; and a second cover section pivotably coupled to the base side wall and movable between a closed position, in which the second cover section overlies a remaining portion of the storage receptacle, and an open position, in which the second cover section is rotated away from the storage receptacle; wherein the base, first cover section, and second cover section in the closed position define an overall profile height sufficiently low to allow insertion of the storage container into a stowage space having a low profile height.
- 14. The storage container of claim 13, in which the overall profile height is less than 4 inches.
- 15. The storage container of claim 13, in which at least one of the first and second cover sections defines a recessed portion, and in which an interlock is disposed in the recessed portion and releasably engages the second cover section to retain the second cover section in the closed position.
- 16. The storage container of claim 13, in which an exterior side of the first cover section defines a writing surface.
- 17. The storage container of claim 13, in which an interior side of the second cover section defines a storage pocket, wherein the second cover section storage pocket is housed inside the storage receptacle when the second cover section is in the closed position and wherein the second cover section storage pocket is accessible when the second cover section is in the open position.
- 18. The storage container of claim 13, in which the first cover section is pivotably coupled to the base side wall and is movable between a closed position in which the first cover section overlies the portion of the storage receptacle and an open position in which the first cover section is rotated away from the central storage receptacle.
- 19. The storage container of claim 18, in which an interior side of the first cover section defines a storage pocket, wherein the first cover section storage pocket is housed inside the storage receptacle when the first cover section is in the closed position and wherein the first cover section storage pocket is accessible when the first cover section is in the open position.
- 20. The storage container of claim 18, in which the first and second cover sections define recessed portions, and in which at least one interlock is disposed within the first and second cover section recessed portions and releasably engages the first and second cover sections to retain the first and second cover sections in the closed positions.
- 21. The storage container of claim 20, in which the interlock is selectively releasable to release a selected one of the first and second cover sections.
- 22. A storage container comprising:
a base defining a bottom wall and a side wall extending upwardly from the bottom wall to define a storage receptacle; and a cover releasably coupled to the base side wall and extending over the storage receptacle; wherein the base and attached cover define an overall profile height sufficiently low to allow insertion of the storage container into a stowage space having a low profile height.
- 23. The storage container of claim 22, in which the overall profile height is less than 4 inches.
