The disclosure relates to portable table devices and more particularly pertains to a new portable table device for supporting a laptop computer at an adjustable height. The portable table includes a power strip and a strap for carrying the portable table. Additionally, the portable table includes telescopically adjustable legs.
The prior art relates to portable table devices including a plurality of portable tables that have foldable legs. Additionally, the prior art discloses a variety of tables for supporting a laptop computer and which have structural elements for inhibiting the laptop computer from sliding. In no instance does the prior art discloses a table with foldable legs and which includes a power strip that is integrated into the table.
An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a table that has a work surface to support a laptop computer. A power strip is integrated into the table and the power strip has a plurality of output ports for plugging in a power cord from the laptop computer. A pair of stands is each pivotally coupled to the table and each of the stands is positionable in a deployed position to support the table over a support surface. Each of the stands is positionable in a stored position having each of the stands lying against the table. A pair of attachments is each coupled to the table and a strap is attachable to each of the attachments for wearing the strap over a user's shoulder to carry the table.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
As best illustrated in
The storage depression 18 is positioned adjacent to the front side 26, and the storage depression 18 is elongated to extend substantially between the first lateral side 30 and the second lateral side 32. The bottom surface 22 has a plurality of hinge points 34 each extending downwardly from the bottom surface 22, and each of the hinge points 34 is aligned with a respective one of four corners of the bottom surface 22. Each of the hinge points 34 comprises a pair of tabs 36 that are spaced apart from each other to define a pivot space 38 between the pair of tabs 36. The pivot space 38 associated with each of the hinge points 34 is oriented to extend along a line that is oriented parallel with either the front side 26 or the back side 28 of the perimeter edge 24 of the table 12.
A power strip 40 is integrated into the table 12 and the power strip 40 has a plurality of output ports 42. In this way a power cord from the laptop computer 16 can be plugged into one of the output ports 42 while the laptop computer 16 is sitting on the table 12. The power strip 40 extends through the bottom surface 22 and the work surface 14 such that each of the output ports 42 is exposed with respect to the work surface 14. Each of the output ports 42 may comprise a usb port or other female port that is commonly associated with electronic equipment. The power strip 40 is aligned with the back side 28 of the perimeter edge 24 of the table 12. The power strip 40 has an input port 44 that is exposed with respect to the bottom surface 22 to receive a power cord 46 for supplying electrical power to the power strip 40. The power cord 46 might be electrically coupled to a female electrical outlet or other power source.
A pair of stands 48 is provided and each of the stands 48 is pivotally coupled to the table 12. Each of the stands 48 is positionable in a deployed position having each of the stands 48 extending downwardly from the table 12 to support the table 12 over a support surface 50. Conversely, each of the stands 48 is positionable in a stored position having each of the stands 48 lying against the table 12. Each of the stands 48 comprises a foot member 52 extending between a pair of support members 54, and each of the support members 54 has a distal end 56 with respect to the foot member 52. The distal end 56 of each of the support members 54 is positioned in the pivot space 38 defined between the tabs 36 which define a respective one of the hinge points 34 on the bottom surface 22 of the table 12. A pin 58 extends through each of the tabs 36 and the distal end 56 of a respective one of the support members 54 for pivotally attaching the support members 54 to the hinge points 34.
Each of the support members 54 comprises a first portion 60 that slidably engages a second portion 62 such that each of the support members 54 has a telescopically adjustable length. In this way the table 12 can be positioned at a variety of heights from the support surface 50 to accommodate a user's preference. Each of the support members Each of the support members 54 has a foot 64 extending laterally away therefrom and the foot 64 on each of the support members 54 is aligned with the foot member 52. In this way the foot 64 on each of the support members 54 can lie on the support surface 50 when the stands 48 are positioned in the deployed position. The support surface 50 may be a floor or other horizontal support surface.
A pair of attachments 66 is each coupled to the table 12 and each of the attachments 66 is positioned on the front side 26 of the perimeter edge 24 of the table 12. Each of the attachments 66 includes a first member 68 extending between a pair of second members 70. Each of the second members 70 is coupled to the front side 26 having the first member 68 being spaced from the front side 26. A strap 72 is attachable to each of the attachments 66 such that the strap 72 can be worn over the user's shoulder for carrying the table 12. A belt 74 is provided and the belt 74 can be wrapped around the strap 72 for storing the strap 72. The belt 74 is matable 12 to itself to form a closed loop around the strap 72. The belt 74 might include a pair of mating members, such as hook and loop fasteners, or other means of mating the belt 74 to itself.
In use, each of the stands 48 is positioned in the deployed position to support the table 12 above the support surface 50. In this way the user can place a laptop computer 16 on the table 12 while the user is standing or sitting, depending on the user's preference. Additionally, the power cord 46 can be plugged into the power strip 40 and the laptop computer 16 can be plugged into one of the output ports 42. The strap 72 can be attached to each of the attachments 66 and the strap 72 can be worn over the user's shoulder to transport the table 12 and the stands 48.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
