The present invention relates generally to the field of portable leg rest devices. More specifically, the present invention relates to a compact, portable folding device for taking fast, healthy, and comfortable naps. Accordingly, the present disclosure makes specific reference thereto. Nonetheless, it is to be appreciated that aspects of the present invention are also equally applicable to other like applications, devices and methods of manufacture.
By way of background, this invention relates to improvements in portable leg rest devices. Generally, people may get tired throughout the day and want to take a quick nap. Elevating the legs while resting is important for improving blood flow. Further, people may lack a proper chair, hammock, or other device to rest and nap while traveling. Additionally, pregnant and nursing mothers, those who suffered a recent lower body injury, and others may need to keep their legs elevated to help reduce swelling and inflammation. Swelling during pregnancy is normal because the body produces approximately 50% more blood and body fluids to meet the needs of the developing baby. Normal swelling, which is also called edema, is experienced in the hands, face, legs, ankles and feet. Further, leg-elevation helps eliminate built up stress and tension in the body, reducing bloating reducing headaches, and supporting the immune system. It can help ease tension in the digestive system and alleviate stress to help it regain normal function.
Additionally, many persons and particularly women have circulation problems in the lower legs associated with muscular cramps, swelling of ankles and soreness. This is compounded when such persons are short in stature where when seated their feet barely, if at all, touch the floor. The weight of the lower legs and feet thus are supported partly by the edge of the chair causing undue compression of tissue behind the knees. Moreover, major blood vessels which supply circulation to the lower leg and foot pass through the space behind the knees, such that the weight of the legs dangling from a chair or other seat, causes some compression of these major blood vessels. This compression or pressure prevents normal return circulation from the lower legs and feet. Thus, the problems of the feet, ankles, and lower legs are exacerbated.
Accordingly, there is a demand for an improved portable leg rest device that improves blood flow, offering a way for those with a recent injury, pregnant women, and numerous others to reduce swelling and inflammation in different areas of the body. More particularly, there is a demand for a portable leg rest device that enables users to obtain a quick, restful, and effective nap in 20 minutes or less.
Therefore, there exists a long felt need in the art for a portable leg rest device that provides users with a compact, portable folding device for taking fast, healthy, and comfortable naps. There is also a long felt need in the art for a portable leg rest device that features a scissor-lift design to support the top pad and cushion attachment. Further, there is a long felt need in the art for a portable leg rest device that allows users to compact and transport the device with ease via a carrying handle. Moreover, there is a long felt need in the art for a device that enables users to obtain a quick, restful, and effective nap in 20 minutes or less. Further, there is a long felt need in the art for a portable leg rest device that helps improve blood flow, offering a way for those with a recent injury, pregnant women, and numerous others to reduce swelling and inflammation in different areas of the body. Finally, there is a long felt need in the art for a portable leg rest device that is lightweight, strong and durable.
The subject matter disclosed and claimed herein, in one embodiment thereof, comprises a portable leg rest device. The device is a portable leg rest for elevating the legs while sitting or lying down. The portable leg rest device comprises a body component that is configured as a frame with collapsible and height-adjustable legs that allow a user to change the height and/or angle of the hammock secured to the top pad via scissor-lift design. The device is lightweight, strong and durable with tubular design featuring a body component and uprights roughly two feet in height (height adjustable down) and two feet apart. The memory foam pillow attachment can be stored inside the device until applied to the top pad. The top end of the device terminates in a rectangular pad to support the legs. During use, the device keeps the legs of a user above their heart while napping or relaxing to improve blood flow. Once a user lies down and positions the lower legs above the heart, they will be able to harness the power of gravity to encourage the blood to drain back towards the core, which makes the leg elevation process way more efficient and effective. This means he/she can get the same results in less time. Users can transport the device via a convenient carrying handle.
In this manner, the portable leg rest device of the present invention accomplishes all of the forgoing objectives and provides users with a device that elevates the user's legs. The device is a portable leg rest that can be constructed using aluminum, polyethylene, or polycarbonate materials, etc.
The following presents a simplified summary in order to provide a basic understanding of some aspects of the disclosed innovation. This summary is not an extensive overview, and it is not intended to identify key/critical elements or to delineate the scope thereof. Its sole purpose is to present some general concepts in a simplified form as a prelude to the more detailed description that is presented later.
The subject matter disclosed and claimed herein, in one embodiment thereof, comprises a portable leg rest device. The device is a portable leg rest for elevating the legs while sitting or lying down. The portable leg rest device comprises a body component that is configured as a frame with collapsible, folding and height-adjustable legs that allow a user to change the height and/or angle of the hammock secured to the top pad. The memory foam pillow attachment can be stored inside the device until applied to the top pad. The top end of the device terminates in a rectangular pad to support the legs. During use, the device keeps the legs of a user above their heart while napping or relaxing to improve blood flow.
In one embodiment, the portable leg rest device elevates a user's legs above their heart while napping and/or resting. Thus, the device helps improve blood flow, offering a way for those with a recent injury, pregnant women, and numerous others to reduce swelling and inflammation in different areas of the body. Accordingly, the device enables users to obtain a quick, restful, and effective nap in 20 minutes or less. Once a user lies down and positions the lower legs above the heart, they will be able to harness the power of gravity to encourage the blood to drain back towards the core, which makes the leg elevation process more efficient and effective. This means he/she can get the same results in less time.
In one embodiment, the portable leg rest device comprises a body component that is configured in a rectangular shape but can be configured in any suitable shape as is known in the art, depending on the needs and/or wants of a user. The body component comprises a top pad and a bottom pad suspended apart in a horizontal configuration by a plurality of height-adjustable legs utilizing a scissor lift for a seamless universal transition. Further, the body component will be approximately 21″×14″×4″. The device is lightweight, strong and durable with a tubular design featuring the body component and height-adjustable legs. Typically, the height-adjustable legs are approximately two feet in height fully extended, and able to be height adjustable down, as needed, and approximately two feet apart.
In one embodiment, the top pad comprises a padded support area, and/or a suitable non-slip resistant areas for supporting a user's legs and feet. Further, in one embodiment, the top pad is manufactured from a material that is water resistant or waterproof or comprises a coating that is water resistant or waterproof. Furthermore, in another embodiment, the top pad is made of antibacterial or antimicrobial material or comprises a coating that is antibacterial or antimicrobial. Further, the top pad can be designed as more of a pillowcase for accepting the foam pillow attachment and can be removable from the top pad.
In one embodiment, a plurality of collapsible, folding and height-adjustable legs that are able to extend and retract, as needed. Typically, one leg is positioned at each corner of the body component and secured to an inner bottom pad via any suitable securing means as is known in the art. The plurality of legs can slide back and forth or pivot within a channel to allow the legs to collapse down and compact the top pad and bottom pad together, as needed for storage.
In one embodiment, the legs manually fold in and out like a beach chair or lawn chair. Specifically, the legs can be positioned at the corners and slide within a channel to allow the legs to collapse down and compact the top pad and bottom pad together. In another embodiment, the legs are arranged in a scissor configuration and secured together at a pivot point with a pin and lock.
