- 16. A device, as set forth in claim 2, in which a first message is defined by one of the written messages, audio messages and scanning messages, in which a second message is defined by another of the written messages, audio messages and scanning messages; in which the processor further comprises linking means for linking the first message to the second message; monitoring means for monitoring for the playback of the first message; and playback means for playing back the second message upon the playback of the first message.
- 17. A device, as set forth in claim 16, in which the linking means is user created.
- 18. A device, as set forth in claim 17, further including clock means for generating a clock signal representative of time, and in which said processor means receives said clock signal for use as a first message.
- 19. A device, as set forth in claim 17, in which the handheld housing is dimensionally longer than wide to facilitate handheld grasping and for carrying substantially within a shirt pocket.
- 20. A device, as set forth in claim 19, in which the handheld housing has a first end and a second end, and a virtual image scanner is positioned adjacent the first end.
- 21. A device, as set forth in claim 20, in which the audio input means is positioned adjacent one of the first and second ends.
- 22. A device, as set forth in claim 21, in which the display means is positioned intermediate the first and second ends.
- 23. A personal organizer and messaging device, comprising a unit dimensioned for handheld grasping and carrying substantially within a shirt pocket including:
- a virtual image scanner adapted to scan a strip of printed material and create a signal;
- a processor for controlling the receipt of said signal, storing said signal, and non-sequentially selectively recalling said signal; and
- display means for receiving information from said processor and from said virtual image scanner.
- 24. A device, as set forth in claim 23, wherein the handheld housing is dimensionally longer than wide to facilitate handheld grasping and carrying substantially within a shirt-pocket.
