Claims
- 1. A communication terminal apparatus in which input video information is encoded and output to a channel, comprising:
- input means for inputting an image in said video information;
- a frame memory for storing said image,
- a program memory for storing an encoding program for driving a CPU;
- a CPU for reading out said image from said frame memory, executing an encoding process due to said encoding program in accordance with one of a plurality of encoding modes each with a different power consumption, and obtaining encoded information of said image;
- a control section, connected to said CPU, for controlling selection of the one encoding mode; and
- output means for outputting said encoded information.
- 2. A communication terminal apparatus as claimed in claim 1, further comprising:
- supply means for supplying an electric power to said communication terminal apparatus,
- wherein said control section lowers a resolution of said inputted image when a battery amount of said supply means becomes smaller than a predetermined amount.
- 3. A communication terminal apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein said CPU switches an encoding mode from a frame dividing point provided after said CPU receives an encoding mode switch request signal from said control section.
- 4. A communication terminal apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein said CPU switches an encoding mode from a slice dividing point provided after said CPU receives an encoding mode switch request signal from said control section.
- 5. A communication terminal apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein said CPU switches an encoding mode from a dividing point of blocks for block matching provided after said CPU receives an encoding mode switch request signal from said control section.
- 6. A communication terminal apparatus as claimed in claim 1, further comprising:
- an encoding mode command resister disposed between said CPU and said control section,
- wherein said control section supplies an encoding mode switching signal changing a state of said encoding mode command resistor, and
- wherein said CPU reads out a content of said encoding mode command resistor and switches the one encoding mode based on said content.
- 7. A communication terminal apparatus as claimed in claim 6, further comprising:
- a clock signal generator for generating a clock signal supplied to said CPU,
- wherein a frequency of a clock signal is changed in response to a processed amount of said encoding mode.
- 8. A communication terminal apparatus as claimed in claim 7, further comprising:
- a CPU encoding resistor for storing information of a present encoding mode of said CPU which is written by said CPU when said CPU switches the one encoding mode;
- a clock frequency-dividing section for reading out said information stored in said CPU encoding resistor and controlling a frequency-dividing ratio of a clock signal generated by said clock signal generator in response to said present encoding mode of said CPU.
- 9. A communication terminal apparatus as claimed in claim 1, further comprising:
- supply means for supplying electric power to said communication terminal apparatus,
- wherein said control section controls the selection of the one encoding mode in response to a battery remaining amount of said supply means.
- 10. A communication terminal apparatus as claimed in claim 9, wherein said control section controls said CPU to obtain encoded information of said image being a black and white image in response to a decrease of the battery remaining amount of said supply means.
- 11. A communication terminal apparatus as claimed in claim 9, wherein said control section outputs a video or an audio message by using said output means in response to a battery remaining amount of said supply means, and controls the selection of the one encoding mode in response to a control signal input corresponding to said message.
- 12. A communication terminal apparatus as claimed in claim 9, wherein said supply means includes a storage battery and a means for detecting a remaining battery amount of said storage battery, and said control section switches the one encoding mode to a different encoding mode corresponding to a low power consumption as compared with a power consumption required by the one encoding mode, when information indicative of a battery remaining amount smaller than a predetermined battery remaining amount is supplied to said control section.
- 13. A communication terminal apparatus as claimed in claim 9, wherein said encoding program drives said CPU to execute an interframe coding concerning inputted image encoding, and execute a motion compensation based on a block matching, and
- wherein said control section reduces the number of searched motion vectors at every block in said block matching in response to a decrease of the battery remaining amount of said supply means.
- 14. A communication terminal apparatus as claimed in claim 9, wherein said encoding program drives said CPU to execute an interframe coding concerning inputted image encoding and control a frame rate of an image to be outputted, and
- wherein said control section lowers said frame rate in response to a decrease of the battery remaining amount of said supply means.
- 15. A communication terminal apparatus as claimed in claim 9, wherein said plurality of encoding modes include a mode for carrying out a fixed intraframe encoding, and a mode for carrying out an intraframe/interframe adaptive encoding concerning a moving picture encoding.
- 16. A communication terminal apparatus as claimed in claim 15, wherein said control section selects said fixed intraframe encoding mode as said encoding mode in response to a decrease of the battery remaining amount of said supply means.
- 17. A communication terminal apparatus as claimed in claim 15, wherein said control section increases a frequency at which an intraframe encoding in said intraframe/interframe adaptive coding is selected in response to a decrease of the battery remaining amount of said supply means when the mode for carrying out said intraframe/interframe adaptive encoding is selected as a present encoding mode.
- 18. A communication terminal apparatus in which input video information is encoded and encoded information is output to a channel, and video information obtained from said channel is decoded, comprising:
- input means for inputting an image in said video information;
- an input frame memory for storing said image,
- a program memory for storing an encoding and decoding program for driving a CPU;
- a CPU for reading out said image from said frame memory, executing an encoding process of said image due to said encoding program in accordance with an encoding mode of a plurality of encoding modes each with a different power consumption, obtaining an encoded information about said image, executing a decoding process of image in said video information due to said decoding program, and obtaining a decoded image;
- an output frame memory for storing said decoded image;
- a control section, connected to said CPU, for controlling selection of said encoding mode;
- means for outputting said encoded information to a channel; and
- means for presenting said decoded image to a user.
- 19. A communication terminal apparatus as claimed in claim 18, further comprising:
- supply means for supplying electric power to said communication terminal apparatus,
- wherein said control section controls selection of said encoding mode in response to a battery remaining amount of said supply means.
- 20. A communication terminal apparatus as claimed in claim 19, wherein said control section controls said CPU to execute a decoding process of an image in said video information received from said channel as black and white image, in response to the decrease of the battery remaining amount of said supply means.
- 21. A communication terminal apparatus as claimed in claim 20, wherein said control section controls said CPU to execute a decoding process of image in said video information as a black and white image by removing a color information from received video information.
