Claims
- 1. A portable transaction log recorder for processing at least one transaction log sheet comprising
- a base,
- means supported by said base for removably receiving a printing plate;
- supply means disposed on one side of said printing plate receiving means supported by said base for removably storing said transaction log sheet;
- take-up means disposed on the other side of said printing plate receiving means supported by said base for removing said transaction log sheet from said supply means across said printing plate receiving means; and
- means for braking said take-up means to thereby maintain said log sheet in a predetermined spatial relationship with respect to said printing plate receiving means, said brake means including
- a first gear connected to said take-up means;
- second and third gears normally in engagement with said first gear and with each other; and
- means for disengaging at least said third gear from said first gear to disengage the brake means and permit said take-up means to remove the log sheet from the supply means, said brake means being engaged when said third gear engages said first gear.
- 2. A recorder as in claim 1 including an anti-backup means for preventing movement of said transaction log sheet from said take-up means toward said printing plate receiving means.
- 3. A recorder as in claim 1 where said third gear is pivotally mounted with respect to said second gear and means for pivoting said third gear out of engagement with said first gear to thereby disengage the brake means.
- 4. A portable transaction log recorder for processing at least one transaction log sheet comprising
- a base;
- means supported by said base for removably receiving a printing plate;
- supply means disposed on one side of said printing plate receiving means supported by said base for removably storing said transaction log sheet; and
- take-up means disposed on the other side of said printing plate recieving means supported by said base for removing said transaction log sheet from said supply means across said printing plate receiving means;
- said take-up means including
- an elongated spool rotatably mounted with respect to said base; and
- a leader attached to said elongated spool and extending a substantial distance from the spool to the printing plate receiving means, said leader including means for attaching the forward end of said transaction log sheet thereto to thereby eliminate the need for utilizing a portion of the transaction log sheet as a leader where said means for attaching the log sheet to the leader includes a lip disposed at the distal end of the leader, the lip forming a recess extending along said distal end whereby the forward edge of the transaction log may be folded over to form a folded-over portion which may be inserted into said lip to thereby effect the attachment of the log sheet to the leader and where said lip includes a projection approximately centrally located along the rear edge thereof and where said log sheet includes a hole approximately centrally located with respect to the width of the sheet and adjacent said forward edge thereof whereby when said sheet is folded over, the fold line intersects said hole and when said folded-over portion is inserted into said lip of the leader, the said projection on the lip projects through the log sheet hole to thereby align the log sheet with respect to the take-up spool.
- 5. A portable transaction log recorder for processing at least one transaction log sheet comprising
- a base;
- means supported by said base for removably receiving a printing plate;
- supply means disposed on one side of said printing plate receiving means supported by said base for removably storing said transaction log sheet; and
- take-up means disposed on the other side of said printing plate receiving means supported by said base for removing said transaction log sheet from said supply means across said printing plate receiving means;
- said take-up means including
- an elongated spool rotatably mounted with respect to said base;
- a leader attached to said elongated spool and extending a substantial distance from the spool to the printing plate receiving means, said leader including means for attaching the forward end of said transaction log sheet thereto to thereby eliminate the need for utilizing a portion of the transaction log sheet as a leader;
- means for braking said take-up means to thereby maintain said log sheet in a predetermined spatial relationship with respect to said printing plate receiving means, said brake means including
- a first gear connected to said take-up means;
- second and third gears normally in engagement with said first gear and with each other; and
- means for disengaging at least said third gear from said first gear to disengage the brake means and permit said take-up means to remove the log sheet from the supply means, said brake means being engaged when said third gear engages said first gear.
- 6. A recorder as in claim 5 including an anti-backup means for preventing movement of said transaction log sheet from said take-up means toward said printing plate receiving means.
- 7. A portable transaction log recorder comprising
- a base;
- means supported by said base for removably receiving a printing plate;
- a plurality of transaction log sheets, said sheets being connected to one another at least approximately at fold lines disposed between adjacent sheets;
- supply means disposed on one side of said printing plate receiving means supported by said base for removably storing said transaction log sheets; and
- take-up means disposed on the other side of said printing plate receiving means supported by said base for removing said transaction log sheets from said supply means across said printing plate receiving means;
- said take-up means including
- an elongated spool rotatably mounted with respect to said base; and
- a leader attached to said elongated spool and extending a substantial distance from the spool to the printing plate receiving means, said leader including means for attaching the forward end of a first one of said transaction log sheets thereto to thereby eliminate the need for utilizing a portion of the said first transaction log sheet as a leader and thus facilitate the fan-folding of the transaction log sheets at said fold lines before and/or after their use in the transaction log recorder where said means for attaching the first log sheet to the leader includes a lip disposed at the distal end of the leader, the lip forming a recess extending along said distal end whereby the forward edge of the transaction log may be folded over to form a folded-over portion which may be inserted into said lip to thereby effect the attachment of the first log sheet to the leader and where said lip includes a projection approximately centrally located along the rear edge thereof and where said first log sheet includes a hole approximately centrally located with respect to the width of the sheet and adjacent said forward edge thereof whereby when said first log sheet is folded over, the fold line intersects said hole and when said folded-over portion is inserted into said lip of the leader, the said projection on the lip projects through the first log sheet hole to thereby align the first log sheet with respect to the takeup spool.
- 8. A portable transaction log recorder comprising
- a base;
- means supported by said base for removably receiving a printing plate;
- a plurality of transaction log sheets, said sheets being connected to one another at least approximately at fold lines disposed between adjacent sheets;
- supply means disposed on one side of said printing plate receiving means supported by said base for removably storing said transaction log sheets; and
- take-up means disposed on the other side of said printing plate receiving means supported by said base for removing said transaction log sheets from said supply means across said printing plate receiving means;
- said take-up means including
- an elongated spool rotatably mounted with respect to said base; and
- a leader attached to said elongated spool and extending a substantial distance from the spool to the printing plate receiving means, said leader including means for attaching the forward end of a first one of said transaction log sheets thereto to thereby eliminate the need for utilizing a portion of the said first transaction log sheet as a leader and thus facilitate the fan-folding of the transaction log sheets at said fold lines before and/or after their use in the transaction log recorder;
- means for braking said take-up means to thereby maintain said log sheets in a predetermined spatial relationship with respect to said printing plate receiving means, said brake means including
- a first gear connected to said take-up means;
- second and third gears normally in engagement with said first gear and with each other; and
- means for disengaging at least said third gear from said first gear to disengage the brake means and permit said take-up means to remove the log sheet from the supply means, said brake means being engaged when said third gear engages said first gear.
- 9. A recorder as in claim 8 including an anti-backup means for preventing movement of said transaction log sheets from said take-up means toward said printing plate receiving means.
