The present invention relates to portable toilet systems intended for use by people in provisional facilities, such as concerts, fairs, construction works, work sites, or in any other temporary event.
Currently, the portable toilet systems that are most widely known are chemical toilets, which consist of a cubicle that mainly comprises a WC and a wash-hand basin and, in some cases, additional equipment. However, due to their large size and low flexibility for transportation, their use in construction works is limited to the first or last floors of the building, which forces workers on inbetween floors to ascend or descend the building in order to use them. The portable urinal and upper wash-hand basin of the present application is constructed with materials similar to those used in chemical toilets, preferably made of high-density polyethylene, fiberglass reinforced plastic or other alternative materials. The portable urinal has four bottom wheels and, since it is smaller than a chemical toilet, it can be transported through the staircase, by the elevator, or by a service lift attached to the side of the building, allowing it to be used on the rest of the floors. This will help maintain higher levels of hygiene at work sites and improve workers' productivity at an estimate of one man-hour per day, since it reduces chemical toilet access time
At massive events, the use of these portable urinals can facilitate quicker hygiene for men; thereby users avoid crowding or a long wait.
For work sites, especially related to farming and construction, article 23 of Supreme Decree N° 594 states that up to 50% of the toilets for men can be replaced by individual urinals. In this sense, because such portable urinals are smaller than chemical toilets, they make better use of the surface area in the sanitary facilities of a specific work site.
In order to grasp a more precise understanding of the features of the portable urinal with an upper wash-hand basin, said portable urinal with an upper wash-hand basin shall be described based on the attached figures, without limiting the application to said model, which are an integral part of the present application.
The portable urinal with an upper wash-hand basin comprises a hollow prism having a rectangular base (1), and on the frontal surface thereof a concavity (2) with a U-shaped protruding rim, herein called the “Urinal”, the rear face in the upper part of said urinal being in communication with an upper oval wash-hand basin (3) by means of several holes, allowing a curtain of water to drip toward the interior of the prism through small lower holes (4). These elements, i.e., the prism and the concavity serving as urinary and upper wash-hand basin, are separately formed, shaped or built within the same matrix or by means of alternative production systems, and being subsequently adhered and assembled in a convenient manner.
In the upper rear part, the prism has a drinking water tank (5), which is a hollow parallelepiped inserted in the upper surface of the prism and supported by a lower relief thereof. It has a rectangular cover made of the same material as the prism, which covers the tank so as to protect its content from environmental impurities. Such cover has hinges and a latch.
The water (6) contained in the tank is connected by means of a hose (7) to a foot pump (8), which is widely used in the market, located in a cavity (9) at the bottom right corner, such that if required, the user can pump with their foot (10) to activate the discharge of water through a curved spout (11) above the upper wash-hand basin (3). Subsequently, a curtain of water flows through multiple perforations (12) provided in the upper part of the urinal concavity and on into the prism. The used hoses could be common hoses for use in gardening or similar activities, and by means of clamps they are fixed to plastic terminals inserted at the bottom of the tank and into the wash-hand basin spout. Such hoses are located within a plastic tube that crosses through the wastewater, and which is inserted when building the prism. Although the wastewater does not contain solids, the use of conveniently aromatized chemical products is anticipated, so as to neutralize foul odors. Thus, the interior of the prism is filled with wastewater (13) and once it is totally or partially full, the content is emptied through a common ball cock (14) located in a cavity in the lower rear part of the prism, said common ball cock being protected by a small rectangular cover made of similar materials as the prism. Said cover is fixed with hinges and a latch or lock.
Alternatively, the wastewater can be suctioned by a hose, which is inserted through a side cover or trapdoor (15). This rectangular cover is made of the same material as the prism and is fixed by means of hinges and a latch.
In turn, the drinking water tank (6) can be placed at a higher height and the water can be driven to the urinal by means of gravity pressure.
The base of the urinal is fitted on four wheels (16) so that it can be easily moved. In addition, two side screens (17) and a rear screen (18) can be fitted on an upper perimetral recess (19) of the prism (1) to ensure privacy. Furthermore, the invention includes an optional removable roof (20) which can be mounted on the screens (17) (18).
