- memory means for receiving through said interfacing means auditing information provided by respective said electronic handsets and for storing said received auditing information for subsequent analysis.
- 2. A portable validation unit as set forth in claim 1 wherein said auditing information further includes at least one of (a) pattern shape data indicative of the shape of a winning pattern on bingo card, and (b) win pattern data indicative of the position of a winning pattern on a respective bingo card.
- 3. A portable validation unit as set forth in claim 2 wherein said auditing information further includes win level data indicative of the level of said winning pattern, such that each said win level requires matching a unique win pattern.
- 4. A portable validation unit as set forth in claim 1 further including:
- device identification means for determining whether the device connected to said interfacing means is a system base station or an electronic handset;
- communication initiating means for initiating communications when said validation unit is determined to be connected to said electronic handset through said interfacing means; and
- responding means for responding to communication when said validation unit is determined to be connected to said system base station through said interfacing means.
- 5. A portable validation unit as defined in claim 4 wherein said communication initiating means issues commands to said electronic handset to upload information to said validation unit and said responding means receives commands from said system base station to upload information from said system base station.
- 6. A portable validation unit as defined in claim 1 further including win code memory means for storing at least one win code in memory, wherein a respective said electronic handset provides a game condition indication to said validation unit through said interfacing means in response to a command to upload information which is communicated by said validation unit through said interfacing means to said electronic handset, said game condition indication being indicative of a winding pattern on a respective bingo card and the specific bingo card on which a win occurred;
- said validation unit further including:
- comparison means for comparing said game condition indication with said at least one win code stored in said memory means of said validation unit;
- signal generation means for generating a win signal if the comparison indicates the game condition indication corresponds to one of said at least one stored win code; and
- indicator means responsive to said win signal for providing a win validation indication that the respective said electronic handset contains a winning game condition indication.
- 7. A portable validation unit as defined in claim 6 wherein:
- said at least one stored win code comprises a plurality of stored win co
- said signal generation means generates one of a plurality of win signals, each of which corresponds to one of said win codes if the comparison indicates said game condition indication received from said electronic handset corresponds to any of said win codes stored in said validation unit; and
- said indicator means provides one of a plurality of win validation indications, each of which corresponds to one of said win signals.
- 8. A portable validation unit as defined in claim 1 wherein said auditing information received from a respective said electronic handset is stored in the form of a data record, said validation unit further including:
- a record counter for counting the total number of individual data records received from said plurality of electronic handsets, said record counter having a maximum count number;
- means for incrementing said record counter in response to the receipt of each of said data records from said electronic handsets through said interfacing means;
- means for comparing a current count in said record counter with said maximum count number;
- means for generating a full signal if the comparison indicates said current count in said record counter equals said maximum count number; and
- indicator means responsive to said full signal for providing an indication that said memory means is full.
- 9. A portable validation unit as defined in claim 1 wherein:
- said base station security information memory means, said handset security information memory means, said auditing information memory means, said interfacing means, and said security checking means collectively include microprocessor means for control and data processing;
- said bidirectional port is connected to said microprocessor means;
- said portable validation unit further comprises a power supply connected to said microprocessor means; and said interfacing means comprises:
- a serial data transmission line;
- a transmission amplifier having an input connected to said bidirectional port, and an output connected to said serial data transmission line;
- a receiver amplifier having an input connected to said serial data transmission line, and an output connected to said bidirectional port;
- first switching means controlled by said microprocessor means for connecting said power supply to said receiver amplifier; and
- second switching means controlled by said microprocessor means for connecting said power supply to said transmission amplifier.
- 10. A portable validation unit as set forth in claim 9 wherein said base station further provides switching signals and said power supply comprises a battery power source, and wherein:
