Claims
- 1. A brassiere, said brassiere comprising:
a first support cup; and a first elongate underwire formed as a part of the cup, the underwire defining at least in part a first semi-circular arc.
- 2. The brassiere of claim 1, the first underwire comprising an elongate first semi-circular arc segment and a first elongate extension extending away from and outwardly of a first end of the arc segment.
- 3. The brassiere of claim 2, the underwire further comprising a second elongate extension extending away from and outwardly of a second end of the arc segment.
- 4. The brassiere of claim 1, further comprising:
a second support cup; and a second underwire formed as a part of the second cup, the second underwire defining at least in part a second semi-circular arc; wherein the first and second underwires are spaced from and with respect to one another.
- 5. The brassiere of claim 4, further comprising a connector attaching the first support cup to the second support cup.
- 6. The brassiere of claim 5, wherein the connector is sized and shaped to connect a first end of the first underwire to a corresponding first end of the second underwire so that the first ends of the respective underwires are spaced a distance of approximately 2.5 cm from one another.
- 7. The brassiere of claim 5, the first underwire further comprising a first extension distal the connector and extending away from and outwardly of a first semi-circular arc segment and the second underwire further comprising a corresponding first extension distal the connector and extending away from and outwardly of a second semi-circular arc segment.
- 8. The brassiere of claim 5, wherein the first arc segment and the second arc segment, respectively, each subtend an angle of approximately 140 degrees.
- 9. The brassiere of claim 5, wherein the brassiere adapted to position and hold the connector against the chest wall of the wearer.
- 10. A brassiere, said brassiere comprising:
a first support cup sized and shaped to have a spherical shape; and a first underwire formed as a part of the first support cup.
- 11. The brassiere of claim 10, the first underwire comprising a first semi-circular arc segment.
- 12. The brassiere of claim 11, the first underwire further comprising a first extension at a first end of the first arc segment, the first extension extending away from and outwardly of said arc segment.
- 13. The brassiere of claim 12, the first underwire further comprising a second extension at a second end of the first arc segment, the second extension extending away from and outwardly of said arc segment.
- 14. The brassiere of claim 11, the first arc segment subtending an angle of approximately 140 degrees.
- 15. The brassiere of claim 10, further comprising a second support cup sized and shaped to have spherical shape, a second underwire formed as a part of the second support cup, and a connector extending between and attaching the first support cup to the second support cup.
- 16. The brassiere of claim 15, the second underwire comprising a second semi-circular arc segment with a first extension at a first end thereof, and a second extension at a second end of the second arc segment, each said extension extending away from and outwardly of the second arc segment.
- 17. The brassiere of claim 15, wherein the connector extending between the first support cup and the second support cup is constructed and arranged to space an end of the first underwire from an end of the second underwire at a distance of approximately 2.5 cm therebetween.
- 18. The brassiere of claim 16, wherein the second arc segment subtends an angle of approximately 140 degrees.
- 19. A method of forming a brassiere, the method comprising:
forming a first support cup in the shape of a section of a sphere; and forming a first underwire as a part of the first support cup.
- 20. The method of claim 19, the step of forming the first underwire comprising forming a first semi-circular arc segment therein and forming a first extension at a first end of said arc segment.
- 21. The method of claim 20, the step of forming the first extension comprising forming an arcuate underwire segment extending away from a center point of the first arc segment.
- 22. The method of claim 21, further comprising forming the first arc segment through an angle of approximately 140 degrees.
- 23. The method of claim 19, further comprising:
forming a second support cup in the shape of a section of a sphere; forming a second underwire as a part of the second support cup; and connecting the first support cup to the second support cup with a connector extending therebetween.
- 24. The method of claim 23, further comprising spacing an end of the first underwire from an end of the second underwire at a distance of approximately 2.5 cm therebetween.
- 25. The method of claim 23, further comprising:
forming a first semi-circular arc segment in the first underwire; forming a first extension at a first end of the first arc segment; forming a second semi-circular arc segment in the second underwire; and forming a first extension at a first end of the second arc segment.
