Claims
- 1. A power connector comprising:
an electrically conductive housing; an electrically conductive connecting member connected to said housing; a power input; and a power output, said power input and power output each having respective ground leads electrically connected to said connecting member for creating an electrically conductive path from said housing to ground.
- 2. The power connector of claim 1, wherein said housing includes a substantially flat electrically conductive mounting plate, wherein said connecting member is connected to said mounting plate.
- 3. The power connector of claim 2, wherein said mounting plate is formed of metal.
- 4. The power connector of claim 3, wherein said mounting plate provides an external surface of said housing that is substantially electrically uninsulated for directly conducting electricity.
- 5. The power connector of claim 3, wherein said mounting plate includes at least one mounting aperture for receiving a fastener.
- 6. The power connector of claim 4, wherein said mounting plate includes at least one mounting aperture for receiving a fastener.
- 7. The power connector of claim 5, wherein said at least one mounting aperture is threaded for receiving a threaded fastener.
- 8. The power connector of claim 6, wherein said at least one mounting aperture is threaded for receiving a threaded fastener.
- 9. A grounded rack assembly comprising:
an electrically conductive rack for supporting one or more computer system components; a power connector including an electrically conductive housing, an electrically conductive connecting member connected to said housing; a power input, and a power output, said power input and power output each having respective ground leads electrically connected to said connecting member, wherein said housing is fastened to said rack for creating an electrically conductive path from said rack to ground.
- 10. The assembly of claim 9, wherein said housing includes a substantially flat electrically conductive mounting plate, wherein said connecting member is mounted to said mounting plate.
- 11. The assembly of claim 10, wherein said mounting plate is formed of metal, and wherein said rack has at least a grounding portion thereof formed of metal.
- 12. The assembly of claim 11, wherein said mounting plate provides an external surface of said housing that is substantially electrically uninsulated for directly conducting electricity from said grounding portion of said rack.
- 13. The assembly of claim 11, wherein said mounting plate includes at least one mounting aperture for receiving a fastener.
- 14. The assembly of claim 12, wherein said mounting plate includes at least one mounting aperture for receiving a fastener.
- 15. The assembly of claim 13, wherein said at least one mounting aperture is threaded for receiving a threaded fastener.
- 16. The power connector of claim 14, wherein said at least one mounting aperture is threaded for receiving a threaded fastener.
- 17. A power connector for powering electrical components in a rack comprising:
an electrically conductive mounting plate adapted for mounting to the rack; a connecting member mounted to said mounting plate; a power input; and a power output, said power input and power output each having respective ground leads electrically connected to said connecting member for creating an electrically conductive path from said mounting plate to ground.
- 18. The power connector of claim 17, wherein said housing includes a substantially flat electrically conductive mounting plate, wherein said connecting member is connected to said mounting plate.
- 19. The power connector of claim 18, wherein said mounting plate is formed of metal.
- 20. The power connector of claim 18, wherein said mounting plate provides an external surface of said housing that is substantially electrically uninsulated for directly conducting electricity.
- 21. The power connector of claim 19, wherein said mounting plate includes at least one mounting aperture for receiving a fastener.
- 22. The power connector of claim 20, wherein said mounting plate includes at least one mounting aperture for receiving a fastener.
- 23. The power connector of claim 21, wherein said at least one mounting aperture is threaded for receiving a threaded fastener.
- 24. The power connector of claim 22, wherein said at least one mounting aperture is threaded for receiving a threaded fastener.
