Claims
- 1. A method of determining blade cutting path of a saw, the saw comprising a table occupying a substantially horizontal plane, a saw blade assembly connected to said table, a saw blade occupying and moveable within a substantially vertical plane and connected to said saw assembly, comprising:
- providing a guide on said saw, said guide being pivotable between a first position indicative of the blade cutting path and a second position nonindicative of the blade cutting path;
- determining blade cutting path by moving said guide into said first position;
- moving said guide into said second position; and
- moving the saw blade assembly in order to cut a workpiece;
- wherein the guide is substantially coplanar to the saw blade when the guide is in the first position.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the saw further comprises an adjustable fence mounted on said table.
- 3. The method of claim 2, further comprising adjusting said fence based on said first position of said guide.
- 4. The method of claim 1, wherein the guide has a leading edge substantially equal to the width of cut of said saw blade.
- 5. The method of claim 1, wherein the saw blade assembly is moved downwards.
- 6. The method of claim 1, wherein said guide is operatively connected to said saw assembly.
- 7. The method of claim 1, wherein said guide has a leading edge and a trailing edge which is at least as thick as said leading edge.
- 8. A saw comprising:
- a table occupying a substantially horizontal plane;
- a saw blade assembly connected to said table;
- a saw blade occupying and moveable within a substantially vertical plane and connected to said saw assembly; and
- a guide operatively connected to said saw assembly and pivotable between a first position indicative of blade cutting path and a second position nonindicative of blade cutting path;
- wherein the guide is substantially coplanar to the saw blade when the guide is in the first position.
- 9. The saw of claim 8, wherein said guide is pivotable with respect to said table.
- 10. The saw of claim 8, wherein said guide comprises a leading edge substantially equal to the width of cut of said saw blade.
- 11. The saw of claim 8, wherein said guide comprises a leading edge and a trailing edge which is at least as thick as said leading edge.
- 12. A saw of claim 8, further comprising a pivot member pivotally mounted with respect to said table about an axis substantially parallel to a surface of said table and substantially coincident with the plane of said saw blade, said saw assembly and said guide being pivotally mounted on said pivot member.
- 13. A saw of claim 8, wherein said guide is biased towards the second position.
- 14. A saw of claim 8, wherein the first position is a retracted position.
- 15. A saw of claim 8, further comprising a fence mounted to said table.
- 16. A saw of claim 15, wherein the fence is adjustable.
- 17. A saw of claim 8, wherein said table further comprises:
- a fixed part to which said fence is attached; and
- a rotatable part to which said saw blade assembly and said fence guide are pivotally mounted.
- 18. A method of determining blade cutting path of a saw having a saw blade comprising:
- providing a guide on said saw, said guide being pivotable between a first position indicative of the blade cutting path and a second position nonindicative of the blade cutting path;
- determining blade cutting path by moving said guide into said first position; and
- moving said guide into said second position;
- wherein the guide is substantially coplanar to the saw blade when the guide is in the first position.
- 19. The method of claim 18, wherein the saw comprises a table occupying a substantially horizontal plane, a saw blade assembly connected to said table, and a saw blade occupying and moveable within a substantially vertical plane and connected to said saw assembly.
- 20. The method of claim 19, wherein the saw further comprises an adjustable fence mounted on said table.
- 21. The method of claim 18, wherein the saw further comprises an adjustable fence.
- 22. The method of claim 21, further comprising adjusting said fence based on said first position of said guide.
