The present invention relates to a device and system which will enable the user to keep their place during prayer or meditation if interrupted.
Prayer and meditation have been practiced for centuries by various religions. Meditation is also used by the social sciences to develop good mental health.
Sometimes these religious practices include repetitive prayers. Catholics use rosaries, Buddhist and Hindus use Mallah beads, Jews use tzitzit, and Muslims use Misbaha beads to name a few. Using prayer beads enables the user to count the number and kind of prayers completed.
Praying repetitive prayers throughout the day while at work can be difficult because one may lose his/her place if interrupted unexpectedly.
Therefore, a need exists to enable the user to pray and/or meditate at their convenience while keeping track of number and kind of prayers.
The present invention comprises a novel prayer system and kit. The kit includes a box with a lid. The inside of the base of the box is divided into two parts. The box can be made of, but is not limited to, wood, glass, pottery, ceramic, paper mache, or cardboard and can be various colors, shapes, and sizes and may include artwork. Inside the box there are a corresponding number of small figures to suit the user's prayer needs. These figures can be made of, but not limited to, wood, glass, pottery, ceramic, paper mache, or cardboard and can be various colors, shapes, and sizes and may include artwork. As a prayer is recited, the figure is moved to the opposite side of the box. This system and kit will enable the user to track the number and kind of prayer.
The attached illustrations depict one variation of the kit. However, the kit is not limited to these examples.
This description is an example of the invention and is not intended to limit the invention to any specific embodiment herein.
The wooden box has a latch (1) and hinged lid (2). The hinged lid with latch enables the box to contain the enclosed figurines. The lid may also be, but is not limited to, screw on, clip-on, slide-in, or any other mechanism that attaches the lid to the base.
In this example, we will use the Flying Novena Prayer. For this prayer series, the user will say the Memorare prayer 10 times. There are ten wooden cubes (10) (11) representing the 10 prayers and a crucifix (12). Nine cubes are blue (10) and one cube is white (11).
To begin the prayer, all cubes (10) (11) and the crucifix (12) will be in the left-side compartment (8). The user will take the crucifix (12) in hand and make the sign of the cross with it. Once complete, the user will place the crucifix (12) in the right-side compartment (9).
Next, the user will say nine Memorare prayers. Each time a prayer is complete, the user will move one blue cube (10) from the left-side compartment (8) to the right-side compartment (9). After nine Memorare prayers are complete, the user will say a final tenth Memorare prayer and move the white cube (11) to the right-side compartment (9) completing the prayer series.
