Claims
- 1. A method for delivering radiation from a radiation source to a body, comprising:
- (a) providing radiation compensation values;
- (b) delivering a predetermined dose of radiation;
- (c) measuring said predetermined radiation dose at predetermined time intervals; and
- (d) compensating said predetermined radiation dose with at least one of said radiation compensation values as a function of said measured radiation.
- 2. A method according to claim 1, said compensating including multiplying said radiation compensation values with a dose rate to adjust said predetermined radiation dose.
- 3. A method according to claim 2, said compensating comprising compensating during a predetermined period, said predetermined period being before a radiation dose rate has reached a predetermined level.
- 4. A method according to claim 3, said predetermined period being about 200 milliseconds from BEAM ON.
- 5. A method according to claim 4, said predetermined time intervals comprising intervals of about 10 milliseconds during said 200 milliseconds.
- 6. A method according to claim 1, said compensating comprising compensating for dosimetry delays.
- 7. A method according to claim 6, said compensating for dosimetry delays comprising compensating said dosimetry delays to about a 2% dosimetric linearity error.
- 8. A method according to claim 1, said delivering comprising delivering said radiation dose as part of an intensity modulated radiation treatment.
- 9. A method according to claim 8, said delivering comprising delivering said intensity modulated radiation treatment as an auto-sequenced treatment.
- 10. A system for delivering radiation from a radiation source to a body, comprising:
- means for providing radiation compensation values;
- means for delivering a predetermined dose of radiation;
- means for measuring said predetermined radiation dose at predetermined time intervals; and
- means for compensating said predetermined radiation dose with at least one of said radiation compensation values as a function of said measured radiation.
- 11. A system according to claim 10, said compensating means including means for multiplying said radiation compensation values with a dose rate to adjust said predetermined radiation dose.
- 12. A system according to claim 11, said compensating means comprising means for compensating during a predetermined period, said predetermined period being before a radiation dose rate has reached a predetermined level.
- 13. A system according to claim 12, said predetermined period being about 200 milliseconds from BEAM ON.
- 14. A system according to claim 13, said predetermined time intervals comprising intervals of about 10 milliseconds during said 200 milliseconds.
- 15. A system according to claim 10, said means for compensating comprising means for compensating for dosimetry delays.
- 16. A system according to claim 15, said means for compensating for dosimetry delays comprising means for compensating said dosimetry delays to about a 2% dosimetric linearity error.
- 17. A system according to claim 10, said delivering means comprising means for delivering said radiation dose as part of an intensity modulated radiation treatment.
- 18. A system according to claim 17, said delivering means comprising means for delivering said intensity modulated radiation treatment as an auto-sequenced treatment.
- 19. A system for delivering radiation from a radiation source to a body, comprising:
- a linear accelerator for providing a predetermined dose of radiation;
- a memory for storing radiation compensation values;
- a dosimetry controller configured to measure said predetermined radiation dose at predetermined time intervals;
- wherein said dosimetry controller is configured to compensate said predetermined radiation dose with at least one of said radiation compensation values as a function of said measured radiation.
- 20. A system according to claim 19, said dosimetry controller configured to multiply said radiation compensation values with a dose rate to adjust said predetermined radiation dose.
- 21. A system according to claim 20, said dosimetry controller configured to compensate during a predetermined period, said predetermined period being before a radiation dose rate has reached a predetermined level.
- 22. A system according to claim 21, said predetermined period being about 200 milliseconds from BEAM ON.
- 23. A system according to claim 21, said predetermined time intervals comprising intervals of about 10 milliseconds during said 200 milliseconds.
- 24. A system according to claim 19, said dosimetry controller configured to compensate for dosimetry delays.
- 25. A system according to claim 23, said dosimetry controller configured to compensate said dosimetry delays to about a 2% dosimetric linearity error.
