Claims
- 1. A pressure regulator comprising a housing, a flexible diaphragm in part setting-off a liquid chamber in said housing, an inlet and an outlet for respectively introducing liquid into and discharging liquid from said liquid chamber, first valve means for selectively controlling liquid flow into said liquid chamber through said inlet, actuator means operative by said diaphragm for actuating said first valve means, means for coupling a liquid inlet tube to said liquid inlet, second valve means between said first valve means and said coupling means for manually opening and closing said liquid inlet to liquid flow, said coupling means including a generally sleeve-like body including an internal passage adapted to receive therein a liquid inlet tube, said internal passage having an inlet end and a discharge end establishing the direction of liquid travel through said internal passage, a plurality of circumferentially spaced inwardly directed rib means located between said inlet and discharge ends and projecting generally in the direction of liquid travel for generally gripping against and biting into an exterior surface of an associated liquid inlet tube to thereby retain an associated liquid inlet tube in said sleeve-like body, and means for releasing said rib means by axial movement in the direction of liquid travel to release the gripping means and thereby facilitate the removal of the liquid inlet tube from said passage.
- 2. The pressure regulator as defined in claim 1 wherein said rib means converge in a direction toward said internal passage outlet end.
- 3. The pressure regulator as defined in claim 1 including means carried by said sleeve-like body for effecting a liquid seal between said sleeve-like body and liquid inlet tube.
- 4. The pressure regulator as defined in claim 1 including means carried by said sleeve-like body for effecting a liquid seal between said sleeve-like body and liquid inlet tube, and said seal means is a generally O-ring shaped seal positioned downstream of said rib means.
- 5. The pressure rgulator as defined in claim 1 wherein said rib means are a plurality of resilient ribs.
- 6. The pressure regulator as defined in claim 1 wherein said rib means are rotatably carried by said sleeve-like body.
- 7. The pressure regulator as defined in claim 1 wherein said releasing means is a sleeve-like member in telescopic relationship to said sleeve-like body and liquid inlet tube, said sleeve-like member having an end contiguous said rib means, and said sleeve-like member being slidable relative to, toward and against said rib means for deflecting said rib means out of gripping contact with the associated inlet tube.
- 8. The pressure regulator as defined in claim 2 including means carried by said sleeve-like body for effecting a liquid seal between said sleeve-like body and liquid inlet tube, and said seal means is a generally O-ring shaped seal positioned downstream of said rib means.
- 9. The pressure regulator as defined in claim 2 wherein said releasing means is a sleeve-like member in telescopic relationship to said sleeve-like body and liquid inlet tube, said sleeve-like member having an end contiguous said rib means, and said sleeve-like member being slidable relative to, toward and against said rib means for deflecting said rib means out of gripping contact with the associated liquid inlet tube.
- 10. The pressure regulator as defined in claim 9 including means carried by said sleeve-like body for effecting a liquid seal between said sleeve-like body and liquid inlet tube.
- 11. The pressure regulator as defined in claim 9 including means carried by said sleeve-like body for effecting a liquid seal between said sleeve-like body and liquid inlet tube, and said seal means is a generally O-ring shaped seal positioned downstream of said rib means.
- 12. The pressure regulator as defined in claim 9 wherein said rib means are a plurality of resilient ribs.
- 13. The pressure regulator as defined in claim 1 including a liquid pipe connected to said liquid chamber outlet, at least one drinker carried by said liquid pipe for dispensing liquid from said drinker; and said regulator including means for altering the position of said diaphragm to vary the pressure of the liquid flowing through said liquid pipe and the liquid dispensed from said drinker.
- 14. The pressure regulator as defined in claim 1 wherein said liquid inlet tube is formed of synthetic polymeric plastic material and has a relatively smooth exterior cylindrical surface.
- 15. The pressure regulator as defined in claim 1 wherein said releasing means is effective for releasing said rib means solely through axial movement in the direction of liquid travel.
- 16. The pressure regulator as defined in claim 14 wherein said releasing means is effective for releasing said rib means solely through axial movement in the direction of liquid travel.
