Claims
- 1. An arm and stylus assembly comprising
- a generally cylindrical stylus;
- a generally rectangular arm including
- two generally rectangular regions having short and long dimensions and a narrow web region lying therebetween,
- four outwardly extending regions each extending along a different one of said long dimensions of said rectangular regions and disposed at right angles thereto,
- said web region forming a generally semi-cylindrical member substantially encircling half of and in contact with and secured to said stylus, and
- said rectangular regions extending from said web regions in the same general direction along generally parallel paths with said outwardly extending regions overlapping and secured to one another.
- 2. An arm and stylus assembly according to claim 1 wherein
- said outwardly extending regions are generally triangular regions and are tapered from a maximum outward extension from said rectangular regions remote from said web region to a minimum outward extension adjacent said web region whereby said rectangular regions gradually diverge from one another.
- 3. An arm and stylus assembly according to claim 2 wherein said generally triangular regions terminated in arcuate ends having the same radius of curvature as said stylus;
- said arcuate ends engaging said stylus in opposition to said web.
- 4. An arm and stylus assembly according to claim 1 wherein the center lines of said generally rectangular regions lie at an angle to one another of less than 180.degree..
- 5. An arm and stylus assembly comprising
- an arm extending in a given direction
- a generally cylindrical stylus having its axis extending generally perpendicular to said given direction
- said arm having two generally parallel walls each having two edges extending parallel to said given direction means securing said edges of one of said walls to adjacent said edges of the other of said walls,
- a web integral with and interconnecting said walls regions of said wall lying between said edges,
- said web forming generally a semi-cylinder having an axis generally coaxial with the axis of said stylus and having a diameter substantially equal to the outer diameter of said cylindrical stylus,
- said web partially surrounding and contacting said cylindrical stylus,
- said web being bonded to said stylus.
- 6. The combination according to claim 5 further including pairs of members having arcuate surfaces formed generally at the terminii of said edges of both of said walls, said surfaces having radii of curvature substantially equal to the radius of curvature of said cylindrical stylus,
- said arcuate surfaces lying generally at right angles to the axis of said stylus and contacting said stylus generally in planes passing along said edges of said walls.
