Claims
- 1. A printer system with an automatic ink ribbon cassette exchange function, comprising:
- a carriage provided with a print head, for holding thereon an ink ribbon cassette, said carriage being movable;
- a stocker for storing therein plural ink ribbon cassettes so as to be detachable, said stocker including storage detection means for detecting whether or not each ink ribbon cassette is stored;
- a changer for moving said stocker and said carriage closer from one another to be set in a ribbon delivery state for delivering the ink ribbon cassette and moving said stocker and said carriage away from one another to be set in a carriage movable state for allowing movements of said carriage;
- stocker ribbon kind memory means for storing therein kinds of said plural ink ribbon cassettes set in said stocker based on a stored position of each ink ribbon cassette; and
- stocker position ribbon kind determining means for detecting the position of the ink ribbon cassette taken out of said stocker by said storage detection means so as to determine the kind of the ink ribbon cassette held on said carriage based on the detected position and the kind of the ink ribbon cassette stored in said stocker ribbon kind memory means.
- 2. A printer system with an automatic ink ribbon cassette exchange function, comprising:
- a carriage provided with a print head for holding thereon an ink ribbon cassette, said carriage being movable;
- a stocker for storing therein ink ribbon cassettes so as to be detachable;
- a changer for moving said stocker and said carriage closer from one another to be set in a ribbon delivery state for delivering the ink ribbon cassette and moving said stocker and said carriage away from one another to be set in a carriage movable state for allowing movements of said carriage;
- changer state detection means for detecting whether said changer is set in the ribbon delivery state or in the carriage movable state;
- time measuring means for measuring a time required for moving said changer from the ribbon delivery state to the carriage movable state and a time required for moving said changer from the carriage movable state to the ribbon delivery state; and
- changer stopping means for stopping a moving operation of said changer when said changer state detection means does not detect that a target state is achieved after said time measuring means measures the predetermined time has elapsed.
- 3. A printer system with an automatic ink ribbon cassette exchange function, comprising:
- a carriage provided with a print head, for holding thereon an ink ribbon cassette, said carriage being movable;
- a stocker for storing said ink ribbon cassette so as to be detachable;
- a changer for moving said stocker and said carriage closer from one another to be set in a ribbon delivery state for delivering the ink ribbon cassette and moving said stocker and said carriage away from one another to be set in a carriage movable state for allowing movements of said carriage;
- change state detection means for detecting whether the changer is set in the ribbon delivery state or the carriage movable state; and
- control means for stopping the movement of said carriage when said changer is not in said carriage movable state.
- 4. The printer system with an automatic ink ribbon cassette exchange system as set forth in claim 3, further comprising:
- print-end state changer automatic moving means for automatically moving said changer from said carriage movable state to the ribbon delivery state after a printing operation by said carriage is completed.
- 5. The printer system with an automatic ink ribbon cassette exchange function as set forth in claim 3, further comprising:
- power-on state changer automatic moving means for automatically moving said changer to the ribbon delivery state when the state of said changer detected by said changer state detection means is not the ribbon delivery state.
- 6. The printer system with an automatic ink ribbon cassette exchange function as set forth in claim 3, further comprising:
- sheet detection means for detecting a set state of a print sheet;
- print start instruction means for instructing for starting a printing operation, and
- sheet state determination means for detecting the set state of the print sheet after the instruction for starting the printing operation is given and moving said changer from the ribbon delivery state to the carriage movable state when the print sheet has been set, while when the print sheet has not been set, informing that the print sheet has not been set.
- 7. The printer system with an automatic ink ribbon cassette exchange function as set forth in claim 3, further comprising:
- carriage ribbon kind recognition means for recognizing a kind of an ink ribbon cassette held on said carriage;
- print ribbon kind memory means for storing therein a kind of the ink ribbon cassette to be used first in the printing operation;
- ribbon kind moving means for recognizing the ink ribbon cassette held on said carriage in response to the instruction for starting the printing operation, said ribbon kind moving means being arranged so as to move said changer having holding thereon the ink ribbon cassette from the ribbon delivery state to the carriage movable state when a recognized kind is identical with a kind stored in said print ribbon kind memory means, while arranged so as to move said changer from the ribbon delivery state to the carriage movable state in the state where the ink ribbon cassette is taken out of said carriage when the recognized kind is not identical with the kind stored in said print ribbon kind memory means or when the kind of the ink ribbon cassette held on said carriage cannot be recognized.
