- 6. A printer as defined in claim 4 wherein the frame includes a main frame, the print head being mounted in the main frame, a first subframe mounted in the main frame, the platen including a platen roll mounted on the first subframe, a second subframe mounted on the first subframe, wherein the print head and the platen roll are cooperable to print on a label on the carrier web, a delaminator disposed downstream of the print head, and wherein the driven roll is a feed roll cooperable with the carrier web to pull the carrier web about the delaminator.
- 7. A printer as defined in claim 6, including a pair of springs for urging the print head toward the platen roll, and a pair of two-position adjusters for adjusting the forces exerted by the springs.
- 8. A printer as defined in claim 7, a mounting assembly for label or tag webs of different widths, a first side guide, a second side guide, a support between the side guides, wherein the second side guide is of lesser lateral dimension than the first guide member to enable a tag roll to be inserted over the second side guide into supported relation on the support, and wherein the first and second guides are manually movable.
- 9. A printer as defined in claim 7, including a support, a first side guide movably mounted on the support, a second side guide movably mounted on the support, means for coupling the first and second side guides for simultaneous movement either toward or away from each other, and means including a cam for releasably securing the first and second side guides in a selected position.
- 10. A printer as defined in claim 4, including a core adapted to be mounted on the supply spindle, the core having a generally tubular member, the supply spindle including an elongate member having ends and a central axis, a spring finger on the supply spindle, the elongate member having an abutment spaced from one end thereof and extending in an outward direction away from the other end and outwardly from the axis, the core having an abutment, and wherein the spring finger cooperates with the core.
- 11. A printer, comprising: a frame, a mounting member pivotally mounted on the frame, a supply spindle for an ink-ribbon supply spool rotatably mounted on the mounting member, a take-up spindle for an ink ribbon take-up spool rotatably mounted on the mounting member, a first electric motor mounted on the mounting member and coupled to the take-up spindle, a print head mounted on the mounting member, a platen mounted to the frame, the frame including a generally horizontal base panel and a generally vertical panel connected to the base panel, a generally U-shaped frame member secured to the base panel, the platen including a platen roll rotatably supported on the U-shaped frame member, a third electric motor for driving the platen, a fourth electric motor, a driven roll disposed downstream of the print head and driven by the fourth motor for advancing a carrier web, wherein the mounting member is pivotal between a position wherein the print head is cooperable with the platen and another position wherein the print head is away from the platen, and the mounting member, the print head, the supply spindle, the take-up supply spindle, the first motor and the second motor being pivotal as a unit relative to the frame.
