Claims
- 1. A printer for printing vehicular transportation documents said printer comprising, in combination, a print engine, feeder means for feeding document forms to be printed into said print engine, and control means for controlling the printing of vehicular transportation passenger information on said forms by said print engine, in which said print engine includes a drum for receiving and retaining latent electrostatic images, a rotary magnetic toner brush for developing said latent images by producing a plurality of outwardly-extending lobes of toner material, and drive means responsive to said control means for rotating said lobes to a first position in which none is sufficiently near said drum to apply toner thereto in the areas which will not contact any form for printing thereon, and for rotating said lobes to a second position in which at least one lobe is close to said drum so as to develop latent images on areas of the drum which will contact forms.
- 2. A printer as in claim 1 in which said print engine has a stationary print head with an array of spot-forming openings spanning the width of one of said forms, said forms being elongated and relatively narrow in width, said feeder means being adapted to feed said forms to said print engine longitudinally in sequence with substantial spaces between successive ones of said forms.
- 3. A printer including a print engine having a drum for receiving and retaining latent electrostatic images, a rotary magnetic toner brush for developing said latent images by producing a plurality of outwardly-extending lobes of toner material, and drive means for rotating said lobes to a first position in which none is sufficiently near said drum to apply toner thereto, and for rotating said lobes to a second position in which at least one lobe is close to said drum so as to develop latent images thereon, and control means for controlling the operation of said drive means to cause said toner brush to apply toner to areas of said drum which will contact sheets for printing thereon, and not elsewhere.
- 4. A printer as in claim 3 in which said print engine has a stationary print head, said sheet being elongated and relatively narrow in width, and including feeder means adapted to feed said sheets to said print engine longitudinally in sequence with substantial spaces between successive ones of them.
