Claims
- 1. A printing medium for an ink jet printer having an ink ejection orifice and supporting means provided facing the orifice for supporting a printing medium, said printing medium having a Clark stiffness not lower than 10, but not higher than 400 at least at its ends and comprising a cloth and a stiffening agent having a non-dyeing property imparted to the cloth and being subjected to a smoothing treatment at its surface so that a degree of the irregularity of the surface is smaller than a half of the distance between the ink-ejection orifice and the surface of the supporting means of the ink-jet printer.
- 2. The printing medium according to claim 1, wherein said medium is processed in the form of a cut sheet.
- 3. The printing medium according to claim 1, wherein said cloth is subjected to a cationizing treatment.
- 4. The printing medium according to claim 1, wherein said stiffening agent comprises a water-soluble non-dyeing compound as a principle component.
- 5. The printing medium according to claim 4, wherein the stiffening agent comprises a material selected from the group consisting of carboxymethyl cellulose, polyvinyl alcohol, sodium alginate, sodium polyacrylate, polyacrylates, starch, dextrin, tragacanth gum and locust bean gum.
- 6. The printing medium according to claim 1, wherein the stiffening agent is contained in the cloth in a range of from 0.01 to 20% by weight based on the weight of the cloth.
- 7. The printing medium according to claim 1, wherein said cloth is in the form of a rectangular cut sheet having two pairs of parallel sides, and having a non-laminated structure, and wherein the direction of crosswise grain or lengthwise grain of said cloth is aligned in a direction parallel with one of the two pairs of parallel sides.
- 8. The printing medium according to claim 1, having a Clark stiffness not lower than 25, but not higher than 300 at least at its ends.
- 9. The printing medium according to claim 1, wherein said stiffening agent comprises sodium alginate.
