Claims
- 1. A probe medium for being placed on a substrate comprising:
a probe which can specifically bond to a target substance; and a substance having a site which can bond to the probe and a substance having a site which can bond to a substrate surface.
- 2. Probe medium according to claim 1 wherein the substance having a site which can bond to the probe and the substance having a site which can bond to a substrate surface are the same substance.
- 3. Probe medium according to claim 1 wherein the substance having a site which can bond to the probe and the substance having a site which can bond to a substrate surface are different substances but can be converted to a single compound.
- 4. Probe medium according to claim 1 wherein the site which can bond is a functional group.
- 5. Probe medium according to claim 1 wherein the bond is any one selected from the group consisting of covalent bond, ionic bond, and a physical adsorption such as electrostatic adsorption.
- 6. A process for manufacturing a substrate on which a probe was immobilized comprising the steps of:
providing a substrate; and providing the substrate with a probe medium comprising a probe which can specifically bond to a target substance and a substance having a site which can bond to the probe and/or a substance having a site which can bond to a substrate surface.
- 7. A process for manufacturing a DNA array comprising the steps of:
providing a substrate; and providing the substrate with a probe medium comprising a DNA probe which can specifically bond to a target substance and a substance having a site which can bond to the DNA probe and/or a substance having a site which can bond to a substrate surface.
- 8. A process for detecting a target substance comprising the steps of:
providing a substrate; providing the substrate with a probe medium comprising a probe which can specifically bond to the target substance and a substance having a site which can bond to the probe and/or a substance having a site which can bond to a substrate surface; and detecting the target substance using the substrate with the immobilized probe.
- 9. A process for manufacturing a probe medium comprising the steps of:
providing a probe, a substance having a site which can bond to the probe, and/or a substance having a site which can bond to a substrate surface; placing respective solutions containing the substances having a site capable of bonding into containers and; mixing the probe and the substance having the site which can bond when the probe is immobilized to the substrate.
- 10. Probe medium comprising:
a probe which can specifically bond to a target substance; a water-soluble polymer material; and a high boiling solvent.
- 11. Probe medium according to claim 10 wherein the water-soluble polymer material is polyvinyl alcohol.
- 12. Probe medium according to claim 10 wherein the high boiling solvent is a high boiling organic solvent based on glycol.
- 13. Probe medium according to claim 10 wherein the probe is a DNA probe.
- 14. A process for immobilizing a probe comprising the steps of:
providing a substrate; and providing the substrate with a probe medium comprising a probe which can specifically bond to a target substance, a water-soluble polymer material and a high boiling solvent.
- 15. A process for manufacturing a DNA array comprising the steps of:
providing a substrate; and providing the substrate with a probe medium comprising a probe which can specifically bond to a target substance, a water-soluble polymer material and a high boiling solvent.
- 16. A process for detecting a target substance comprising the steps of:
providing a substrate with the probe medium according to claim 10 by way of the spotting method to immobilize the probe medium on the substrate; and detecting the target substance using the resulting substrate with the immobilized probe.
- 17. Probe medium comprising said probe, said water-soluble polymer material and said high boiling solvent according to claim 10 respectively contained in containers and mixed when the probe is immobilized to the substrate.
- 18. A probe medium wherein the water-soluble polymer material and the high boiling solvent according to claim 10 improve the storage property of a substrate with the immobilized probe.
- 19. A DNA array comprising wherein the probes of a substrate with an immobilized prove manufactured by the process for immobilizing the probe according to claim 14 are DNA probes.
- 20. The probe medium according to claim 1, wherein the probe has at an end of the probe a modifying portion capable of bonding to the substance having a site which can bond to the probe.
- 21. A DNA array comprising spots of a probe medium comprising a probe which can specifically bond to a target substance and a substance having a site which can bond to the probe and a substance having a site which can bond to the substrate surface, which spots are separately arranged on the substrate.
