Claims
- 1. A method of adjusting at least one mechanical property of an elevator drive machine, the elevator drive machine including a traction sheave and an electromechanical apparatus that drives the traction sheave, said method comprising:measuring an electrical characteristic of the electromechanical apparatus, the electromechanical apparatus including two motors for driving rotation of the traction sheave, each motor having a stator, a rotor, and an axial air gap between the stator and the rotor, the traction sheave being positioned between and attached to the rotors of the two electric motors along an axis of rotation of the traction sheave; and adjusting the air gap of at least one of the two motors as a function of the measured electrical characteristic.
- 2. The method as defined in claim 1, wherein said step of measuring measures the electrical characteristic directly from the stators, the electrical characteristic measurement being dependent on the mutual positions of the rotors and stators.
- 3. The method as defined in claim 2, wherein the electrical characteristic measured from the stators is at least on of the source voltage, polyphase current, load current and some other voltage or current property.
- 4. The method as defined in claim 1, wherein a total air gap and/or the division of the total air gap into component air gaps is measured.
- 5. The method as defined in claim 1, wherein with the motors idling, said step of measuring measures the source voltage and said step of adjusting adjusts the air gaps to symmetrize the source voltages.
- 6. The method as defined in claim 5, wherein at least one of the following properties of the source voltage is adjusted: amplitude, amplitude and phase, one or more harmonics of the fundamental wave.
- 7. The method as defined in claim 1, wherein, with the motors coupled together and with no load connected to them, said step of adjusting adjusts the air gap so that the polyphase current is minimized.
- 8. The method as defined in claim 1, wherein said step of measuring measures the electrical characteristic of the motors is performed with a load connected to the motors and said step of adjusting adjusts the air gaps until the currents in the two motors are substantially equal.
- 9. The method as defined in claim 8, wherein the load is increased to a maximum and the motor currents are substantially equalized by adjusting the air gaps.
- 10. The method as defined in claim 1, wherein a division of a total air gap into different air gaps is adjusted and the air gaps are adjusted by means of an adjusting device disposed in conjunction with the bearing elements of the drive machine and moving the rotors in the axial direction.
- 11. The method as defined in claim 1, further comprising:altering angles of rotation between the stators and rotors of the two motors as a function of the measured electrical characteristic.
