Claims
- 1. In a glazing to be bonded into an opening of a car body, said glazing having an in situ extruded, peripheral profile, the improvement wherein:
- a) said glazing includes at least one additional polymer component which is extruded in situ and hardened in place to complete or replace at least a portion of the extruded profile.
- 2. In a glazing to be bonded into an opening of a car body, said glazing having an in situ extruded peripheral profile, the improvement wherein:
- a) at least one additional molded polymer component which is extruded in situ and hardened in place to contact at least a portion of the extruded profile at at least one terminal junction point.
- 3. The glazing according to claim 2, wherein:
- a) at least a portion of the polymer component adopts the shape of the extruded profile at each terminal junction point.
- 4. The glazing according to claim 3, wherein:
- a) the extruded profile is extruded along the periphery of the glazing from a first terminal junction point to a second terminal junction point; and
- b) the polymer component is joined to the extruded profile at said first terminal junction point and said second terminal junction point.
- 5. The glazing according to claim 1, wherein:
- a) the glazing includes at least one corner section along its periphery; and
- b) the polymer component is located at said corner section of the glazing.
- 6. The glazing according to claim 1, wherein:
- a) the polymer component integrates one or more of the devices selected from the group consisting of stop lights, electric power supplies such as for heating the glazing, antenna power supplies, water or air ducts, passages for windshield wiper shafts and fastenings.
- 7. The glazing according to claim 2, wherein the polymer part integrates one or more of the devices selected from the group consisting of stop lights, electric power supplies, such as for heating the glazing, antenna power supplies, water or air ducts, passages for windshield wiper shafts, and fastenings.
- 8. A glazing to be bonded into the opening of a car body, and equipped with an in situ extruded, peripheral profile of at least one polymer component, at least a portion of which is extruded and then hardened in place to complete or replace a portion of the extruded profile.
- 9. The glazing according to claim 8, wherein the replaced portion of the polymer component adopts the shape of the extruded profile at a terminal junction.
- 10. The glazing according to claim 8, wherein the replaced portion of the polymer component is positioned at the location of the connection between the start and finish of the extruded profile.
- 11. The glazing according to claim 8, wherein the replaced portion of the polymer component is located in the corner of the glazing.
- 12. The glazing according to claim 8, wherein the polymer component integrates one or more of the devices selected from the group consisting of stop lights, electric power supplies, such as for heating the glazing, antenna power supplies, water or air ducts, passages for windshield wiper shafts, and fastenings.
- 13. The glazing according to claim 1, wherein an enamel layer is positioned on the glazing beneath the profile.
- 14. The glazing according to claim 2, wherein an enamel layer is positioned on the glazing beneath the profile.
- 15. The glazing according to claim 8, wherein an enamel layer is positioned on the glazing beneath the profile.
- 16. The glazing according to claim 1 wherein the polymer component comprises a polyurethane system which polymerizes by hardening under the action of heat.
- 17. The glazing according to claim 2 wherein the polymer component comprises a polyurethane system which polymerizes by hardening under the action of heat.
- 18. The glazing according to claim 8 wherein the polymer component comprises a polyurethane system which polymerizes by hardening under the action of heat.
- 19. In a glazing to be bonded into an opening of a car body, said glazing having an in situ extruded, peripheral profile of at least one polymer component, wherein at least a portion of the profile is completed or replaced by an additional polymer component that is hardened in place.
- 20. The glazing according to claim 19, wherein:
- a) at least a portion of the polymer component is adjusted to adopt the shape of the extruded profile at said terminal junction point.
