Claims
- 1. Process for the removal of NO.sub.x from exhaust gases containing oxygen, water vapor and sulfur oxide(s) from combustions, which process is characterized in that said combustion exhaust gases are brought into contact with a catalyst comprising a Beta Zeolite exchanged with cobalt salts, having a molar ratio of SiO.sub.2 :Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 within the range of from 5 to 250, and a molar ratio of Co:Al contained in the Zeolite which is lower than 0.5, corresponding to a cobalt content of between 0.39 and 12.37 wt % of the total zeolite weight, in the presence of a reducing agent selected from gaseous or liquid hydrocarbons containing more than 1 carbon atom or mixtures thereof, under a pressure within the range of from -1 to 10 kg/cm.sup.2 -G, at a temperature within the range of from 200.degree. to 650.degree. C., and at a GHSV (gas hourly space velocity) within the range of from 1,000 to 200,000 h.sup.-1.
- 2. Process according to claim 1, in which the Beta Zeolite has a molar ratio of SiO.sub.2 :Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 within the range of from 15 to 75.
- 3. Process according to claims 1 or 2, in which the molar ratio of Co:Al in the Zeolite is within the range of from 0.2 to 0.49.
- 4. Process according to claim 1, in which the reducing agent is selected from saturated C.sub.2 -C.sub.12 hydrocarbons, or a mixture thereof.
- 5. Process according to claim 4, in which the reducing agent is selected from saturated C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 hydrocarbons or a mixture thereof.
- 6. Process according to claim 1, carried out under a pressure comprised within the range of from -0.1 to 3 kg/cm.sup.2 -G.
- 7. Process according to claim 1, carried out at a temperature within the range of from 350.degree. to 500.degree. C.
- 8. Process according to claim 1, carried out at a GNSV (gas hourly space velocity) within the range of from 1,000 to 100,000 h.sup.-1.
- 9. Process according to claim 8, carried out at a GHSV (gas hourly space velocity) comprised within the range of from 3,000 to 30,000 h.sup.-1.
- 10. The process according to claim 1, wherein the exhaust gases are exhaust gases released by automobiles.
- 11. The process according to claim 1, wherein the exhaust gases are exhaust gases released by gas turbines, engines using oxygen=rich mixtures and power stations.
