Claims
- 1. A process cartridge removably mountable onto a main body of an image forming system, said process cartridge comprising:
- an electrophotographic photosensitive member;
- process means for acting on said photosensitive member;
- a first frame;
- a second frame to be separably connected with said first frame;
- lock means for separably connecting said first frame and said second frame;
- recesses formed on said second frame; and
- projections provided on said first frame, said projections configured to fit into respective ones of said recesses upon connection by said lock means of said first frame and said second frame so that said first frame and said second frame do not shift,
- wherein said first frame and said second frame are separably connected by said lock means in a state where said projections engage said recesses.
- 2. A process cartridge according to claim 1, wherein said projections are arranged on said first frame along a longitudinal direction thereof.
- 3. A process cartridge according to claim 1 or 2, wherein said lock means comprises engage pawls provided on said first frame engaged with engage portions provided on said second frame, and said projections are arranged on said first frame alternately with said engage pawls along a longitudinal direction thereof.
- 4. A process cartridge according to claim 3, wherein said first frame includes a charge roller as said process means, and a toner containing portion containing a toner to be used for developing a latent image formed on said photosensitive member, said charge roller contacting said photosensitive member to charge said photosensitive member.
- 5. A process cartridge according to claim 4, wherein said lock means comprises engage pawls formed on an outer surface of said toner containing portion and engaging openings formed on said second frame.
- 6. A process cartridge according to claim 1 or 2, wherein said first frame includes a charge roller as said process means, and a toner containing portion containing a toner to be used for developing a latent image formed on said photosensitive member, said charge roller contacting said photosensitive member to charge said photosensitive member.
- 7. A process cartridge according to claim 6, wherein said lock means comprises engage pawls formed on an outer surface of said toner containing portion and engaging openings formed on said second frame.
- 8. A process cartridge according to claim 2, wherein said projections are arranged adjacent to a corner of said first frame.
- 9. A process cartridge according to claim 1, wherein said recesses are arranged on said second frame along a longitudinal direction thereof.
- 10. A process cartridge according to claim 1 or 9, wherein said process means comprises a cleaning member and said second frame includes a toner reservoir portion for storing toner removed from said photosensitive member by said cleaning member, and wherein said recesses are formed on said second frame along said toner reservoir portion.
- 11. A process cartridge according to claim 1 or 9, wherein said recesses are circular concave portions into which circular pillars as said projections are fitted.
- 12. A process cartridge according to claim 1, wherein said process cartridge incorporates one of charge means for charging said photosensitive member, developing means for developing a latent image formed on said photosensitive member, and cleaning means for removing residual toner from said photosensitive member as said process means, and said photosensitive member integrally therein, to be removably mounted on the main body of the image forming system.
- 13. A process cartridge according to claim 1, wherein said process cartridge incorporates at least one of charge means for charging said photosensitive member, developing means for developing a latent image formed on said photosensitive member, and cleaning means for removing residual toner from said photosensitive member as said process means, and said photosensitive member integrally therein, to be removably mounted onto the main body of the image forming system.
- 14. A process cartridge according to claim 1, wherein said process cartridge incorporates at least developing means, for developing a latent image formed on said photosensitive member, as said process means and said photosensitive member integrally therein, to be removably mounted onto the main body of the image forming system.
- 15. A process cartridge removably mountable onto a main body of an image forming system, said process cartridge comprising:
- an electrophotographic photosensitive drum;
- a charge member for charging said photosensitive drum;
- a developing member for developing a latent image formed on said photosensitive drum;
- a cleaning member for removing toner left on said photosensitive drum;
- a first frame including said charge member and a toner containing portion for containing toner to be used by said developing member for developing the latent image;
- a second frame including said photosensitive drum, said developing member, and said cleaning member and being separably connected with said first frame;
- an engage portion provided on said second frame;
- a lock member provided on said first frame to disengageably engage said engage portion to connect said first frame and said second frame;
- fitting recesses formed on said second frame; and
- fitting projections provided on said first frame, said fitting projections configured to fit into respective ones of said fitting recesses upon connection by said lock member of said first frame and said second frame, so that said first frame and said second frame do not shift,
- wherein said first frame and said second frame are disconnectably connected by engaging said lock member with said engage portion in a state where said fitting projections are fitted into said fitting recesses.
- 16. A process cartridge according to claim 15, wherein said fitting projections are arranged on said first frame along a longitudinal direction thereof.
- 17. A process cartridge according to claim 15 or 16, wherein said lock member comprises engage pawls and said fitting projections are arranged on said first frame along a longitudinal direction thereof alternately with said engage pawls, said engage pawls being engaged with said engage portion provided on said second frame.
- 18. A process cartridge according to claim 15, wherein said fitting recesses are arranged on said second frame along a longitudinal direction thereof.
- 19. A process cartridge according to claim 15 or 18, wherein said second frame includes a toner reservoir portion for storing toner removed from said photosensitive drum by said cleaning member and said recesses are formed on said second frame along said toner reservoir portion.
- 20. A process cartridge according to claim 15, 16, or 18, wherein said fitting recesses are circular concave portions into which circular pillars as said fitting projections are fitted.
- 21. A process cartridge removably mountable onto a main body of an image forming system, said process cartridge comprising:
- an electrophotographic photosensitive drum;
- a charge roller contacting with said photosensitive drum for charging said photosensitive drum;
- a developing roller for developing a latent image formed on said photosensitive drum;
- a cleaning blade for removing toner remaining on said photosensitive drum;
- a first frame supporting said charge roller and a toner containing portion for containing toner to be used by said developing roller for developing the latent image;
- a second frame supporting said photosensitive drum, said developing roller, and said cleaning blade, and being separably connected with said first frame;
- engage portions provided on said second frame;
- lock members provided on said first frame and disengageably engaging said engage portions to connect said first frame and said second frame;
- fitting recesses formed on said second frame along a longitudinal direction thereof; and
- fitting projections provided on said first frame along a longitudinal direction thereof and being arranged alternately with said lock members, said fitting projections configured to fit into respective ones of said fitting recesses upon connection of said first frame and said second frame so that said first frame and said second frame do not shift,
- wherein said first frame and said second frame are disconnectably connected by engaging said lock members with said engage portions in a state where said fitting projections are fitted into said fitting recesses.
- 22. A process cartridge according to claim 21, wherein said second frame includes a toner reservoir portion for storing toner removed from said photosensitive drum by said cleaning blade and said fitting recesses are provided on said second frame along said toner reservoir portion.
- 23. A process cartridge according to claim 21, wherein said lock members are arranged on a lower surface of said toner containing portion and engage with engage openings as said engage portions.
- 24. A process cartridge according to claim 21, wherein said fitting recesses are circular concave portions into which circular pillars as said fitting projections are fitted.
- 25. An image forming system onto which a process cartridge is removably mountable for forming an image on a recording medium, said image forming system comprising:
- mount means for mounting a process cartridge having an electrophotographic photosensitive member; process means for acting on the photosensitive member; a first frame; a second frame to be separably connected with the first frame; lock means for separably connecting the first frame and the second frame; recesses formed on the second framer; and projections formed on the first frame; wherein the projections are configured to fit into respective ones of the recesses upon connection by the lock means of the first frame and the second frame so that the first frame and the second frame do not shift, and wherein the first frame and the second frame are connected separably by the lock means in a state where the projections engage the recesses;
- transfer means for transferring a toner image formed on the photosensitive member of the process cartridge mounted on a main body of said image forming system to a recording medium; and
- convey means for conveying the recording medium.
- 26. An image forming system onto which a process cartridge is removably mountable for forming an image on a recording medium, said image forming system comprising:
- mount means for removably mounting a process cartridge having an electrophotographic photosensitive drum, a charge member for charging the photosensitive drum, a developing member for developing a latent image formed on the photosensitive drum, a cleaning member for removing toner left on the photosensitive drum, a first frame including the charge member and a toner containing portion for containing toner to be used by the developing member for developing the latent image, a second frame including the photosensitive drum, the developing member, and the cleaning member and being separably connected with the first frame, an engage portion provided on the second frame, a lock member provided on the first frame for disengageably engaging the engage portion to connect the first frame and the second frame, fitting recesses formed on the second frame, and fitting projections provided on the first frame, the fitting projections configured to fit into respective ones of the fitting recesses upon connection by the lock member of the first frame and the second frame so that the first frame and the second frame do not shift, wherein the first frame and the second frame are disconnectably connected by engaging the lock member with the engage portion in a state where the fitting projections are fitted into the fitting recesses;
- transfer means for transferring a toner image formed on the photosensitive drum of the process cartridge mounted on a main body of said image forming system to the recording medium; and
- convey means for conveying the recording medium.
- 27. An image forming system onto which a process cartridge is removably mountable for forming an image on a recording medium, said image forming system comprising:
- a mount member for removably mounting a process cartridge having an electrophotographic photosensitive drum, a charge roller contacting the photosensitive drum for charging the photosensitive drum, a developing roller for developing a latent image formed on the photosensitive drum, a cleaning blade for removing toner remaining on the photosensitive drum, a first frame supporting the charge roller and a toner containing portion for containing toner to be used by the developing roller for developing the latent image, a second frame supporting the photosensitive drum, the developing roller, and the cleaning blade and being separably connected with the first frame, engage portions provided on the second frame, lock members provided on the first frame for disengageably engaging the engage portions to connect the first frame and the second frame, fitting recesses formed on the second frame along a longitudinal direction thereof, and fitting projections provided on the first frame along a longitudinal direction thereof and being arranged alternately with the lock members, the fitting projections configured to fit into respective ones of the fitting recesses upon connection of the first frame and the second frame so that the first frame and the second frame do not shift, wherein the first frame and the second frame are disconnectably connected by engaging the lock members with the engage portions in a state where the fitting projections fit into the fitting recesses;
- a transfer roller for transferring a toner image formed on the photosensitive drum of the process cartridge mounted on a main body of said image forming system to the recording medium; and
- convey members for conveying the recording medium.
- 28. An image forming system according to claim 25, 26, or 27, wherein said image forming system is a laser beam printer.
- 29. An image forming system according to claim 25, 26, or 27, wherein said image forming system is a facsimile machine.
- 30. An image forming system according to claim 25, 26, or 27, wherein said image forming system is an electrophotographic copying machine.
- 31. A process cartridge removably mountable onto a main body of an image forming system, said process cartridge comprising:
- an electrophotographic photosensitive drum;
- a charge roller contacting with said photosensitive drum for charging said photosensitive drum;
- a developing roller for developing a latent image formed on said photosensitive drum;
- a cleaning blade for removing toner remaining on said photosensitive drum;
- a first frame supporting said charge roller and a toner containing portion for containing toner to be used by said developing roller for developing the latent image;
- a second frame supporting said photosensitive drum, said developing roller, and said cleaning blade, and being separably connected with said first frame;
- engage portions provided on said second frame;
- first and second lock members provided on said first frame and disengageably engaging said engage portions to connect said first frame and said second frame, said first lock members being arranged on a lower surface of said toner containing portion, which contains toner to be used for developing a latent image formed on said photosensitive drum by said developing roller, and said second lock members being arranged side by side along a longitudinal direction of said charge roller;
- fitting recesses formed on said second frame along a longitudinal direction thereof, said fitting recesses being arranged along a toner reservoir portion for containing residual toner removed from said photosensitive drum by said cleaning blade; and
- fitting projections provided on said first frame along the longitudinal direction of said charge roller and being arranged alternately with said second lock members, said fitting projections configured to fit into respective ones of said fitting recesses upon connection of said first frame and said second frame so that said first frame and said second frame do not shift,
- wherein said first frame and said second frame are disconnectably connected by engaging said first lock members arranged on said lower surface of said toner containing portion with engage openings as said engage portions arranged along a longitudinal direction of said developing roller, and by engaging said second lock members arranged along the longitudinal direction of said charge roller with engage members as said engage portions arranged along said toner reservoir portion for containing residual toner removed from said photosensitive drum by said cleaning blade of said second frame, in a state where said fitting projections are fitted into said fitting recesses.
- 32. An image forming system onto which a process cartridge is removably mountable for forming an image on a recording medium, said image forming system comprising:
- mounting members for removably mounting the process cartridge including an electrophotographic photosensitive drum; a charge roller contacting with the photosensitive drum for charging the photosensitive drum; a developing roller for developing a latent image formed on the photosensitive drum; a cleaning blade for removing toner remaining on the photosensitive drum; a first frame supporting the charge roller and a toner containing portion for containing toner to be used by the developing roller for developing the latent image; a second frame supporting the photosensitive drum, the developing roller, and the cleaning blade, and being separably connected with the first frame; engage portions provided on the second frame; first and second lock members provided on the first frame for disengageably engaging the engage portions to connect the first frame and the second frame, the first lock members being arranged on a lower surface of the toner containing portion containing toner to be used for developing a latent image formed on the photosensitive drum by the developing roller, and the second lock members being arranged side by side along a longitudinal direction of the charge roller; fitting recesses formed on said second frame along a longitudinal direction thereof, the fitting recesses being arranged along a toner reservoir portion for containing residual toner removed from the photosensitive drum by the cleaning blade; and fitting projections provided on the first frame along the longitudinal direction of the charge roller and being arranged alternately with the second lock members, the fitting projections configured to fit into respective ones of the fitting recesses upon connection of the first frame and the second frame so that the first frame and the second frame do not shift, wherein the first frame and the second frame are disconnectably connected by engaging the first lock members arranged on the lower surface of the toner containing portion with engage openings as the engage portions arranged along a longitudinal direction of the developing roller, and by engaging the second lock members arranged along the longitudinal direction of the charge roller with engage members as the engage portions arranged along the toner reservoir portion for containing residual toner removed from the photosensitive drum by the cleaning blade of the second frame, in a state where the fitting projections are fitted into the fitting recesses;
- a transfer roller for transferring a toner image formed on the photosensitive drum of the process cartridge mounted on said mounting members to the recording medium; and
- a conveyor for conveying the recording medium.
