Claims
- 1. An electrically conductive melt-spun fiber having a denier per filament of about 3 to about 10 and a transverse cross-section with an electrically conductive sheath of a thermoplastic formulated with carbon black; and an electrically non-conductive core; said fiber having an electrical resistance of less than 1.times.10.sup.13 ohms/cm, said sheath consisting essentially of synthetic thermoplastic fiber forming polyester containing uniformly dispersed therein from about 3 to about 40% by weight of electrically conductive carbon black, wherein said electrically conductive sheath and said electrically non-conductive core are made of the same synthetic thermoplastic fiber-forming host polymer, wherein said synthetic thermoplastic fiber-forming host polymer is a blend of poly(ethylene terephthalate) and poly(butylene terephthalate).
- 2. The composite fiber as claimed in claim 1, wherein the electrical resistance of said fiber is less than 1.times.10.sup.11 ohms/cm.
